The atmosphere is fantastic and is complemented by a beautiful view of the sea (it's directly on the ocean). The food is a delicious mix of European cuisine and provides a nice break from local food. The staff is fun and they play some groovy tunes to liven the place up. Drop by for a snack, (non-alcoholic) drink, lunch, or dinner. P.S. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.

Pleasant Atmosphere, serene part of Cherai Beach, away from the mob, pleasant choice of food, very nice owner-run Beach Shack.

We were quite pleased to find European food after 2 weeks of all Indian cuisine. The location is perfect, the ambience lovely. The food was good - not great. It is all prepared with great care for hygiene though. I loved my burger, Pizza was a little too dark and the salads (at least there were salads that we coud eat as the lettuce is washed with mineral water) were on the small side.
The service was extremely slow. We didn't mind as we loved to hang out and chill.

Free wifi.

Great plus - you can rent sunchairs and umbrellas on the beach in front of the Chilliout and there are two guys protecting the sunbathers from too brash Indian youngsters.

We spent the final 2 days of our honeymoon on Cherai Beach. Despite having loved sampling lots of delicious Indian food in the previous weeks, we were really craving something else, and the food here really hit the spot!

It's a lovely looking place, right on the beach front - nice wooden building and wicker furniture. They play happy music and the atmosphere is great. It is a lovely independent cafe, run by its owner with a lot of love. The service is very friendly, and also very relaxed - it can take a little while for someone to take your order, but that's no hardship when you are sitting comfortably in a lovely place right on the beach!

The menu offers all kinds of things - our favourite thing was the pizzas which were some of the best we've tasted anywhere (and we really do like eating pizza!) Amazing tomato sauce and base. I'd also recommend the caramelised banana crepe which was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable too. Overall, a fantastic place if you fancy a break from Indian cuisine.

This is a place that probably one does not expect in Cherai, which is a small town around 25 kms from Kochi. We went there on tripadvisor recommendation and were pleasantly surprised to find top quality continental food in that restaurant which is more like a shack on Cherai beach. The owner, Eddy, hailing from France, has settled down in Cherai and has a mission to provide food without "chillies" which are integral to Kerala food. On the first day, we had outstanding grilled black pomfret and this prompted is to come back later and have lovely pork sausages. We were a little disappointed with the desert, but overall, the place is highly recommended
