“worst nightmare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

we arrived to the car park which was right beside the rubbish dump and walked to "reception " not a very good one
chalet was an upgrade a hovel to a shed.
GARDENS WERE UNKEMPT AND THE CRAZY GOLF WAS NOT EXISTENT
food was appalling with little selection (good job for the salad bar) I had eaten better in the
school canteen from the 50s
We have written to both Sand Bay and Head Office but as yet no reply I wonder WHY!!!!!!!!!
DON'T BOTHER TO GO THERE

i have visited sand bay about 5 times and always had a great time chalets are a bit dated but comfortable and clean. meals are good with several choices you can have waiter service or get self service. the attraction of adults only is also a bonus. leisure facilities are also good. the bus stop to weston super mare is at the top of the drive but if you are feeling fit its a lovely walk in.you can get some really good deals so go on give it a go.

The chalet was very small, good job we didn't take cat! No shower although asked for one, given attachments to push onto bath taps.

No air-con in dining room or ballroom and it was stifling in both.
The food was not that good, to be honest I've had a better choice of food and better prepared in factory canteens.

I was told by other guests who were there 5 weeks ago that it had gone downhill since then

Second visit for us and fourth for our friends. Had a very enjoyable four days, entertainment was good but we had heard the jokes on our last visit. The residant band was very good. Chalet was very clean and warm but the door rattled in the wind. Our Waitress Joanna looked after us very well in the restaraunt, nothing too much trouble. One concern was the cramped seating in the ballroom, if there had been a fire there would be a big panic to vacate the room.
The resort could do with a re-vamp but would not stop us visiting again next year.

Room Tip: if you prefer a shower, ask when booking

Stopped for inkfest and paid £99 for three nights. The venue was good although the lighting was dreadful on stage. The staff were fantastic, all very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The food was of good canteen standard and served speedily, good choice of roast, salad bar, curry or veg option. The rooms were clean and the bed comfy but of a very poor state. Big gaps around the front door and window frames stuffed with toilet paper, mould in the shower cubicle. It must be FREEZING in the winter. You get what you pay for...enjoy a drink and an event and ignore the tenko style chalets. They need bulldozing.

Stayed here last weekend for Inkfest (an alternative music and tattoo weekender) and while we had a great time overall the only thing that let the place down was the chalets. Apparently this site was an old Pontins resort and it doesn't look the accomodation has been changed much since. At the very least a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss, not to mention the rickety old furniture and the mould in the bathroom .There was also a hole in the bathroom window fittings and the front door rattled in the wind.

On the positive side, all the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially in the restaurant. My wife and I are both vegetarian and were very well catered for at mealtimes. The swimming pool was also up to scratch.

If the owners can just address the situation with the chalets then I would recommend this place.

just got back from a 4 night stay at this resort, the food was ok,but quite small portions, unless you queued at the salad bar and hot food station instead of waiting at your table for waiter service.everybody had to queue outside because it was one sitting for everyone.when there is over 300 hundred people or more this takes a long time,so be prepared . it is better to make a mad rush to help yourself for the food so you can make sure you dont get bird size portions, like if you had the waiter service. the chalets are ok but need up dating everything needs ripping out and starting again. to small to dirty. be very carefull the rooms are mostly baths only and the water is scalding hot.

Room Tip: if you need a shower make sure you request it before you go,as there is more baths than showers in t...
