“Psychic and spiritual weekend 2013”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

for the 2nd year running I have attended Sand Bay for this specialist weekend,, and I must say all the staff are so friendly cheerful and helpful, just how it should be, there is always a cheery welcome when you first arrive and this carries on throughout your stay, and its not just reception,, it is throughout the whole complex, all staff have a great sense of humour, and always ready to help whatever the reason A+++

Room Tip: although the single room beds are a little on the narrow side,,, everything you need is there, altho...

We have just returned from Sand Bay having spent 4 nights in a very warm and comfotable chalet which had everything needed, drawers, wardrobe, welcome tray, bathroom with wall fan heater, piping hot water, comfortable beds and colour TV. The meals were excellent, the choice varied and the service second to none. Some people queued but I think only because they wanted to eat quickly and get back to the ballroom for a good seat! There was no necessity to quue as there was no shortage of seats (as they were already allocated) or food as there was a salad bar as well as the main service. Food was served hot, well cooked and well presented. The salad on the buffet was beautifully fresh and inviting. The entertainment was of a high standard and the whole staff worked VERY hard to make sure you had a good time. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would certainly go again. We are both retired travel agents and have stayed in some fantastic hotels on various parts of the world. For the amount we paid for a 5 days, I think that the break we have just had was the BEST value for money I have ever encountered.

Room Tip: In case of inclement weather ask for a room close to the restaurant.

I went with a group of friends to Sand Bay for the New Year Gala break.
The break was not as advertised. We booked an Ambassador chalet but were obviously given a standard chalet as it was no different to the standard chalet booked by our friends. Furniture was old and nowhere to hang dresses. Bathroom to small to move in with a cracked window. Only plus point was chalet well heated. Room service was poor or non existent and we were pushed out at 9am on last day although we were supposed to vacate room by 10am. Room was separated from adjoining chalet only by a locked interior door meaning there was a lack of privacy.
Gala dinner was cold and meat very tough. None of our group could eat it.
Entertainment room was too small for number of guests meaning you had to miss all or part of your meal to get a seat for the evening entertainment.
Standards have definitely slipped since previous visit, will not be visiting again.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

I went to sand bay for Christmas from the 23rd december for 4 nights with my parents. The staff came and greeted us when we got there at 2pm. We had to wait an hour for the key to our chalet and had to queue for it. The chalet was ok but in the bathroom there was black mould on the tiles which shocked me as I have got 8 years experience as a cleaner. Wallpaper was not cut properly by the skirting boards. People was queuing to get in the restaurant and the food was cold when the waitress served it to us. There was not enough portions on the plate to eat and the hot drinks when you get to the table was cold as they put the pots on the table about 10 minutes earlier. On the plus side the entertainment was very good with plenty going on. It was more like hi-de-hi style. I will not be going there again.

Room Tip: Go elsewhe

Stayed here 14 - 17 December 2012inclusive for our annual Turkey and Tinsel weekend. There were 12 of us in the group.

The rules in the restaurant has changed since last year, whereas you are no longer able to help yourself during breakfast, and the meals were definitely smaller in size to previous years, but the service by our waitress Krystyna could not be faulted.

I did not usen the gym during this visit but a new couple to our group did, and said it was stinking dirty so would not use any of the apparatus and came straight back out.. I did use the pool but the steam room was out of order and have been for some time, another evidence of cutbacks perhaps? Wont pay to have the gym professionally cleaned or the steam room fixed.

The chalet wasnt very clean, although I didnt complain as we only use if for a base and only there for the weekend, but wouldnt have wanted to stay any longer in there. The bathroom fittings left little to be desired and were dirty and evidently many years old and the carpet in the main room was dirty rotten. I wouldnt walk bare foot in there in case

We have visited the resort for the past couple of years at the same time and it would be shame if they allow the standards to drop any further. We were told that the owner has died and the daughter has taken over. If this is the case, she will need to improve the cleanliness of the whole complex and give the chalets a much deserved face lit or she may find that the regular customers will not want to return and this could result in the business having to close.

It was ok for what we paid and the fact it was half price bar weekend, but I would not pay their usual weekendl tariff as shown in the brochure. and the same applies to the rest of our group.

I have just returned from a superb holiday at Sand Bay with my daughter. The chalet was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent and they provided gluten free alternatives for my daughter at every meal which was a big bonus for us. The entertainment was very good, my daughter Jenny has learning difficulties but she loved the line dancing and the shows. Well done to the entertainment staff, they did 5 shows during the week and each one was superb. I don't think I have enjoyed a holiday more and we have already booked in for next year. Thanks to everyone at Sand Bay for making us feel so welcome and like part of the family
