My husband and I took advantage of the Tres Sirenas "fall special" during Rincon's (very very) low season from October 3-10. Due to the deal we received, we didn't get maid service (which didn't bother us) or the famous breakfasts during our stay. The second caviat was a little difficult to take after Lisa treated us to one breakfast when the Inn had other guests (most nights we had the place to ourselves!). They are truly worth getting up for in the morning! As other reviewers have noted, the property is lovely. Fabulous accommodations, beautifully decorated rooms, nice dipping pool and small spa, etc. You literally couldn't get any closer to the ocean (you can hear the waves crashing on the rocks in front of the inn during the night, as the ocean breeze sweeps through the room). Being young, budget travelers, this is easily the nicest place we have stayed, and we wouldn't have been able to afford the Tres Sirenas regualar season rates, so this was a golden opportunity to stay in an establishment that received so much deserved praise. Of course, Harry and Lisa (and their daughter Forrest) are wonderful, warm, kind people who love to share thier knowledge of the island and point travelers in the right direction, and they make the trip even more enjoyable.
Our issues with our trip had absolutely nothing to do with the Tres Sirenas. We were surprised at several things regarding Rincon and Puerto Rico(maybe we were too naive):
1. Puerto Rico is BUSY! I've never been to a more overpopulated island. We flew into San Juan (next time fly to Aguadilla), and the trip to Tres Sirenas took a little over three hours, due to traffic, and we found that getting anywhere took longer than expected. Some "day trips" to other parts of the isalnd were abandoned because they were impossible to do in just a day.
2. Though we frequently travel during the low season (due to travel deals and job commitments), we have never encountered a low season as low as Rincon's. Literally, we had trouble finding restaurants that were open (especially ones recommended), though we did enjoy the Villa Confresi and several other small establishments. We never went hungry, but it was a bit of a battle finding food sometimes. On the flip side, most days we were the only ones on a beach, regardless of where we went, which was wonderful and relaxing. So I guess you can't have one without the other!
3. Though the water was warm, it wasn't the beautiful blue you associate with the Caribbean, nor did the beaches have white sand. The beaches are lovely, but if you're looking for this type of a beach, you will have to travel to a different part of Puerto Rico.
