“THE Place to Stay on the Isle of Man”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

We often stay at farm bed and breakfasts when we travel, but rarely find such a perfect match of "bed and breakfast" hospitality and a true farm setting. Comfortable rooms, good advice about places to eat and things to see, well-marked footpaths for working up appeties (or working off full English breakfasts, and a central location a relatively short drive from the ferry port make this the ideal place to base yourself for a stay on the Isle of Man.

We stayed at Knockaloe Beg Farm on a flying visit to the Isle of Man and what a find this place is. Beautiful location, great accomodation & a fabulous breakfast made all the more enjoyable by such a lovely warm and friendly welcome from Fiona. The farm and its hospitality are a credit to the Anderson family. Highly recommended as a wonderful place to base your stay on the island.

Knockaloe Beg Farm is a working farm B&B about one mile outside Peel 500 yards off the main road down a windy potholed single track lane. We stayed there over Halloween for 5 nights (or Hop tu naa as it is celebrted on the Isle of Man). There are 3 guest rooms as well as a rental cottage. There is a communal guest lounge where breakfast is served and you sit at a large round dining table with the other guests. There is a nice wood burning stove to heat the room and plenty of comfy seating. The house and all the rooms and bathrooms are furnished to a high standard and the beds are exceptionally comfy. The breakfasts were fantastic with local produce and a wide variety to choose from.

There are chickens running about and manx cats and it certainly must be a delight for children but one should bear in mind it is a working farm and the day starts and ends early. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this to all our friends.

Room Tip: there is one room at the back which although also lovely is opposite the barn so you might be woken...

I stayed for four nights in may with my elderly mother. The room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, with pleasant views over farmland towards the coast. The beds were extremely comfortable, and my mother awoke quite amazed to discover that she'd had a sound night's sleep for the first time in ages. The breakfasts were quite superb, with an extensive choice of foods served in the very pleasant guest dining/sitting room. We were made to feel most welcome, and even allowed to help with moving some sheep on our first morning, which was the highlight of our trip - though the island has many interesting attractions and beautiful places to visit which we also enjoyed. My only problem was resisting the urge to kidnap Meggy - the delightful collie pup!

An excellent reception on arrival, Fiona made us feel very welcome, brief but informative description of the accommodation and amenities.
Everything was very clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable, the showers superb, the upstairs bedrooms were of a good size, while the downstairs lounge was more than big enough for our group.
We found the information folder very helpful and everyone loved the complimentary local cheese.
The views were excellent only spoiled in one direction by the chimney from the power plant in Peel, which is only 1 mile away, so within easy reach.
Everyone in our party commented on how nice it was to stay at the farm and that the choice was a "Hit".
I WILL be recommending it to our friends.

Room Tip: All three bedrooms are similar, though the downstairsbed room is slightly larger with a bath /wet ro...

My husband booked us (myself, himself and our 1 year old daughter) into the farm as a surprise trip to the IOM GP in August for my 40th birthday.
The rooms were immaculate, the bed incredibly comfortable and the shower fabulous. The room wasn't huge but the large guest lounge downstairs gave lots of alternative space. It was the little touches in the room which were special: home made flapjack in a tin next to a range of teas; a bottle of local spring water; the organic cotton bathrobes that made it different. Feeding the lambs and chickens was a highlight for little one....and us too to be honest.
It's a working farm with a working family but Fiona, her husband and the children are all incredibly welcoming and provide excellent hospitality. A gorgeous place to stay at any time of the year.

Room Tip: It's not really a hotel, it's a B&B

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Knockaloe Beg Farm was rebuilt in 2007 as a modern, energy efficient building with a traditional feel. It has 5 en-suite double or twin bedrooms and a lovely private guest lounge with wood burning stove. It is part of our working farm where we milk 200 cows and breed from 800 ewes so lambing time is very busy and exciting! Our bedrooms all have really comfy, super king sized, zip and link beds with goose down duvets and large showers or baths. Breakfasts have gained a 'Breakfast Award' for being high quality as well as local, homemade, fairtrade or organic. We pride ourselves on our environmental awareness. The house is up a private farm lane so is very quiet with stunning views across open countryside and only a 20 minute walk to the sea. ... more   less
