“Excellent lunch in scenic setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

Went here for lunch after a walk around the Church Bay Track. The restaurants are up a long driveway. I opted for the Tasting Room (Cellar Door on their website) which provides a snack menu rather than the full restaurant menu. This turned out to be a great spot with a nice view from their outside terrace tables with tasty light meals. I had the soup of the day (potato) and salt and pepper squid which were both good, followed by a flat white coffee. This came to around $42 - cheaper than the main restaurant menu with mains dishes around $45. For another $10 one can get a taste of 5 of the wines produced by the Vineyard. The chap at the coutner was friendly and efficient. On a fine day, it was a great spot to relax before taking the 30min walk back to the ferry at Matiatia Bay.

“Over rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Need to look at front of house staff attitude. Waited 1 hour for entre and 1 hour for main. Not good enough.
Food was minimalist, expensive and not as described. When is a tender lamb rack not tender or a rack? At Mudbrick.

“A must go in Waiheke Island!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

This place has it all, the view, the location, the atmosphere, everything is just right; they even grow some of the things they serve, and have a vineyard of their own, it's fantastic. If you are in the island you definitively cannot miss this spot, the place overlooks the Auckland harbour and the fireplace in the main hall is quite nice during those chilly nights. Last time we visited this cozy place on our anniversary, got served by a very kind Irish waitress that was consistently attentive, we ordered three courses and our main dishes were the lamb rump and the fish of the day, they were so yum we ended up sharing with each other, we finished off with the 'down to earth' dessert. Everything went just fine, it simply keeps on being the best place to go to while in the Island, do not miss it.

“Pooly handled and values don't align”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Expensive and therefore I expect A1 Service and A1 meals. Didn't get anywhere near there. Chicken meal was RAW and returned "twice" for cooking. Chief wasn't really interested.
3 fish meals were ordered and served as Snapper but was really King Fish. Manager acknowledge that after we paid. Fish meals were served on cold plates - hence meals was luke warm.
Complaint wasn't taken seriously at cashier. While we were complaining another party was complaining at the same time. (doesn't say a lot) Night Lighting up footpath is poor. Light signage out front is poor.
Value for money - no - not that day.
