“check before you book!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2010

booked this through a company who were doing a great deal for 4 nights for family of 2 adults 2children. on checking the site to view accomodation it stated that "suites" that sleep 4-6 consisted of two rooms and kitchenette. no mention of "family" rooms at all. i confirmed that this was what i was booking. on arrival we were put into a room which was a double room with 2 camp beds for the children, cramped into the room. i approached staff at reception to see if i had the right booking to which they informed me that it was a family room that i booked and not a suite..all rooms are marked suite!! i pointed out to them what it stated on site about rooms sleeping 4-6 and that i had confirmed this before i booked and that there was NO mention of family room! i was informed i could upgrade but not that night. when i asked how much extra it would cost the receptionist answered the phone and left me standing there. i was never approached after asking me would i like the upgrade.
the playground consisted of a climbing frame with broken swing and was right outside someones room. my daughter kept falling out of the camp bed as it was in bad condition.
breakfast was alright but no fresh fruit only tinned fruit available.
bar staff were very helpful and pleasant.
would highly recommend look b4 u book..

We had a family room which was quite big. The bathroom is ok.
Considering what we paid for in the area it's very good. Breakfast area isn't the best and there's a bit of a smell of food.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with a 15month old baby in August 2010. While the hotel is a few minutes drive outside the town of killarney, it was an ideal base for us.
On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady. Our room wasnt ready when we arrived, which was a bit disappointing after a long journey there, but we decided to go into the bar to have some lunch. The food in the bar is second to none. Absolutely gorgeous. I had the seafood pasta and it was just beautiful and my husband had sea bass (i think!!) and he loved it too. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and chatted to us while we were waiting.
When we got to our room, (i had booked a suite with a double bed and a baby cot) I was delighted. It was exactly what we wanted. A nice size bedroom, extremely comfy bed, living area was beautiful and spacious and the kitchenette clean with fridge, micro, toaster, cutlery and crockery.
At breakfast each morning, we were well looked after. The staff were very friendly and got us a high chair when they saw us coming, and it was never a problem to heat some cereal for the baby.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is ideal as a base for travelling around beautiful kerry.

Im just back from a lovely stay in the travel inn hotel with my fiance. We booked in for 2 nights as we were going to a Christening in Fossa. The hotel was clean, bright and well laid out.The rooms were spacious and comfortable with all the essentials eg tea/coffee making facilities/iron and hair dryer. The food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Eilish(thank you for the upgrade)The view from the room was amazing.
The hotel was busy and had a lovely atmosphere.
The hotel is about 3 miles from kilarney town but is only ten euro in a taxi.
We will definetly be back.

We are from Barcelona (Spain). We have been for 9 days in an apartment for the 4 (two children 10 and 6 years old and 2 adults). The two rooms communicated were very confortable, clean with all the necesary if you want to have breakfast inside or dinner , because you have a little kitchenette with microwave, fridge. Very peaceful and quiet area, surrounded by scenary views of the mountains of Killarney.
The Valley Bar is also a nice bar to dinner at night with good food quality/prize. It has also a restaurant.
The hotel is 5 kms to Killarney and close to all the scenary places in the area: The Gap of Dunloe, the Killarney National Park, Muckroos House and gardens, waterfalls , and has a road a minute from the hotel that takes you directly to the Dingle Peninsula and also to the Ring of Kerry......probably the most beautiful, scenary areas of Ireland. Excellent choice if you want to travel and visit Ireland.....and the confort of a 4 stars hotel with good price. Killarney is five minutes driving . Nice Village with a lot of amenities. You can rent bikes, go to pubs, shopping, etc....and also play golf if you like it!. There are plenty of golf courses in all the area!.
The staff gave us many recommendations and maps of the area. They were very friendly!. Irish people are all so friendly!!. Thanks !.
I will recommend this hotel to all my friends.
If I return to Kerry...I will repeat in the Valley (now called The Travel Inn). Sure!

This is a good, reasonably priced hotel with great staff, clean comfortable rooms, excellent food and a very welcoming atmosphere. It is not luxurious but it is clean and of a good standard and was an excellent base for our trips to Dingle, the Killarney National Park and the Ring of Kerry. The views of the mountains from the rooms at the front of the hotel are beautiful. It's a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of Killarney and the food was so good that we didn't bother going into town to eat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Ths hotel is advertised as a 4* hotel but it is without doubt a 3* hotel!!

The staff at the Killarney Valley Suites are so helpful and friendly without being too in your face. They alone would encourage me to go back if it wasn't was the ridiculously unconfortable beds. I stayed for 3 nights and didn't get a proper sleep any night!!

The hotel is also very family friendly with lots of kids running around. So I wouldn't recommend it for people without children.

If they got their beds sorted I might be tempted to go back!
