“Scenic splendour and timeless charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2009

Just returned from a two night stay at the Loch lein country house on the last leg of a week spent touring the west coast of Ireland. Stayed in the big chain hotels along the way which were fine and provided a good but similar standard of accommodation and service. The loch lein however was simply perfection. Its location providing gorgeous views over the Loch and in a quiet secluded lane just a short drive from the centre of Killarney was just so quiet and relaxing. The accommodation is very spacious and beuitfully furnished in calming and comforting fabrics and colours. The public lounge and dining room provides a glorious vista over Loch lein and the hosts Paul and Annette providing valuable local knowledge to help us make the most of our stay. There are so many hotels and guest houses in Killarney to choose from. This must be surely one of the best.

A calm hotel with very comfortable rooms and bathroom with view to Loch Lein lake. The service was very excellent, especially the breakfast was so good with fresh fuits and different dishes. Also our children were filled with enthusiasm. Annett and Paul are very charming hosts. Paul gave us very good suggestions for sight seeing tours. We recommend this hotel and will come back.

I have stayed at Loch Lein several times for various reasons. We as a family have had to come to killarney for sad occasions as well as happy. You are more than just a guest in the Loch Lein.Paul Annette and staff make you feel so special and do what they can to assist you. The attention to every detail and all the little touches make this place an experience..The lovely smell of fresh flowers as you enter. The offer of a much longed for cup of tea.The cleanliness of the whole hotel The lovely spacious and ever so comfortable rooms. The freshly cooked food .I always look forward to the lovely breakfast and what a choice they offer..The decor of the place is first class and the windows allow the best possible views of the lakes and mountains that have to be seen to be appreciated. The rates are so reasonable especially for the service one can expect. Im going to Killarney at the end of the month and shall be staying there. I worked in two different hotels in Killarney in my young days..There is no shortage of hotels there now but there is only one for me..The Loch Lein Country House.

We have stayed at this Hotel for the last Ten years (sometimes two or three times a year) for Touring (on the Ring of Kerry), sightseeing (Killarney, Muckross, Dingle etc) and our Favourite sport, Horse Racing (Killarney & Listowel). Just booked again or Horse Racing in May 2009

It was always very good under the Coffey family, however Paul & Annette have taken it to another level, with all Honesty it not be faulted. They are superb Hosts and cannot do enough for for their Guests. The Hotel is approx 300 Metres off the Fossa Road in a very quiet location with Stunning views of the Lakes/Mountains. Superbly furnished large rooms, immaculately clean and lovely lawned Gardens. I would recommend this Hotel to anybody staying in or around Killarney. Regardless of any allocated Tourist rating this is 5 Star+ accomodation and excellent value for money.

We (8 golfers) have stayed here every year for the last 8 years as part of our annual golf trip to Ireland (and have visited individually for family breaks) The rooms, food and service are all 5 star particularly the welcome given by Paul & Annette. Nothing is too much trouble for them. You could pay a lot more to stay somehere else in Killarney, but why bother!

  • Liked — The rooms/en suite bathrooms are bigger and better equiped then many so called 5 star hotels

The house sits on a lovely lane with a view of Loch Lein in the not-too-distant distance. The room was enormous, like a suite with a dining area and a sofa nook. Very very clean, beautiful bathroom with marble tile and good water pressure. The friendliest staff we encountered, constantly bringing up tea and coffee (free) because we looked cold and/or tired. The only place in Ireland where you can get something for breakfast OTHER than eggs/sausage/tomato/toast/cereal/juice. Admittedly not the best belgian waffle I've ever had, but a WELCOME change after two weeks of culinary boredom.

The staff is very prompt, immediately solicitous, and knowledgeable about the area, drive times, destinations, suggested routes, etc. etc. etc. The grounds are beautiful, and we had delightful sunsets from our multiple west-facing windows.

I attended a close friends wedding at Loch Lein last summer - an experience which I will cherish for years to come. The hotel is beautifully furnished, with huge, spacious and luxurious rooms, complimented by the fantastic communal areas. I found the food to be excellent, with the service impeccable. The two hosts who run the hotel were fantastic throughout the duration and I would like to credit them for their warmth and professionalism throughout. In addition, the secluded nature of Loch Lein (despite the proximity to Killarney and its associated sites) made this a delightful venue. The lake is a stones throw away, where I enjoyed more than a couple of beautiful walks. To summarise - GO HERE! You won't be let down.
