“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

This was a gift we had received and glad we used. This hotel has everything you need for a relaxing, refreshing and stimulating vacation. The staff made you feel very welcome from the moment you stepped into reception until you departed. The facilities are not alone luxurious but very practical. Whether you relaxed in the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi or just lay by the pool there was always something to do. The panoramic view of the Lakes of Kilarney with the mountains as a back drop is as poetic as one could imagine. We will certainly be going back if only for the great food that was served up with a smile.

Room Tip: Lake view is a must

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Apart from its amazing facilities, there could not be a better location for a hotel. It looks out on the lakes of Killarney with the mountains in the background. The hotel has had a major renovation in recent years and it really shows. The rooms have private balcony most with a lake view. The real gem in this crown is the leisure centre which surpasses anything I have ever been in. The selection of foods for breakfast would leave our European colleagues with very red faces - again amazing.
The attached photo is a view from my bedroom window!
The only (slightly) negative comment I could make is the rates at this hotel are very expensive - but worth it.

we recenly stayed one night at the europe and we were so looking forward to it we booked a double room but it looked like two single beds put together and of course they came apart we went to reception and they sorted problem but next morning the breakfast was'nt great as the sausages had a funny taste and the bacon was hard but i must say the staff were very friendly but the overall verdict was dissappointing

Room Tip: be sure and get value for money

We spent a couple of days in this beautifully located hotel.
Let's deal with one issue first: we don't agree with some criticism in relation to the exterior of the hotel. Far from it, this is in our opinion by far the best hotel in Ireland. The rooms (we had 2 adjoining lake-view rooms) are tastefully decorated as is the rest of the hotel. The spa is brilliant and the restaurants excellent. Our 2 little girls enjoyed the friendly attention of the staff, the small playground in front of the hotel and the free pony riding.
We'll definitely be back.

I have been fortunate enough to return to this hotel twice since my last review of it. It wasn't disappointing in the slightest and was in fact every bit as good as we remembered and we left wishing we didn't have to and looking forward to our next trip. This hotel really is special.

The only 'negative' about my last visit was that it was over the Easter weekend and there were an awful lot of children in house. I never thought for one moment that anyone would consider bringing children to an establishment of this caliber as it isn't what I would call child friendly. There aren't any slides or play areas unless of course you are a child who finds themselves in a 5 star resort with no facilities for you, in which case you make your own fun, by jumping in and out of the pool (not so bad), swinging from the ropes that open the doors to the external infinity pool, jumping off the sunbeds in the infinity pool, throwing cups out of the infinity pool, screaming in the spa showers and generally running around a spa, completely and utterly oblivious to your parents, who are fully appreciating the fact they are in a spa, with one exception...they are the only ones tone deaf and blind to their children's behaviour and it is the rest of us that suffer as a result. Not so much the hotels fault as the parents, but I do feel the hotel staff should have done more to protect other guests.

Do go to this hotel as you will have really missed out on a hidden gem in the emerald isle if you don't, but just for your own sake, make sure it's not during school holidays to maximise your enjoyment.

Room Tip: Pay for a lake view room, it really is worth it.

We ate at the Panorama Restaurant on the night of my wife's birthday and it was a very mixed experience!
Positives: The decor, ambience and service were faultless and we had a table directly overlooking the lake - fabulous. Apart from one of our main courses being incorrectly prepared (see below) the food was of a very good standard. The restaurant had noted that it was my wife's birthday upon booking and presented her deseert on a plate that bore the message, in chocolate sauce.... Happy Anniversary! we didn't have the heart to tell the waitress!
Negatives: My wife ordered her fillet steak 'medium rare' but, when it arrived, it was 'well done' and dry - disappointing. We sent it back and she received a perfectly cooked steak in return (the plates were very hot and we think that the meat probably continued to cook on the plate pending service; we noticed that the chateaubriand of the family on the next table had appared to suffer the same fate). There was no offer to keep my meal warm pending the service of my wife's second steak so, in effect, we ate at different times. Although the waiting staff were most apologetic about the situation, there was no redress, such as offering to take money off our bill.
Summary: Lots to enjoy from eating here, but my wife's special evening turned out to be disappointing; bearing in mind the cost, we felt that we had not experienced value for money.

Stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon in March. Everything about the hotel was fantastic! The rooms are modern and finished to a very high standard. A lake view room is a must you will not be disappointed. The pool and spa really are 5 star and food and service were of very high standard. Breakfast was the best we have ever eaten in a hotel with everything fresh and homemade. It is on the expensive side however some times you get what you pay for!
