The St Regis chain don't do anything by halves. The setting for this restaurant is something right in the top shelf, even for St Regis. Set amongst a detailed set of terrace pools. with fabulous mood lighting, you find yourself going wow as you walk into the Restaurant. Our table was on the patio area immediately above the largest pool with a great view of the Arabian Gulf and the beautiful gardens.
The food is very good, not outstanding but full of flavour and a lot of subtitles with the sauces. This is a high class establishment and the cost of their wines reflected this position. The house red at 60 AED a glass is a classic case and sadly the quality of the wine did not come close to the price. Meal sizes aren't huge but are adequate.
The staff are very attentive and conversational, not to the point of being over the top, but I certainly wouldn't haven't wanted any more attention.
Even if the food was only average which it isn't, you will enjoy Sontaya. The setting alone is one of the very best I have encountered anywhere in the world and will definitely be going back.
