“Hidden gem in the heart of Somerset.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

Stayed for one night (14 May 2012) on our 30th wedding anniversary...we had spent the first night of our honeymoon there...it was unrecognisable from our original stay! This is an exceptional B & B where the staff, food, accommodation, location & cleanliness cannot be faulted. Would definitely return and have already recommended it to family & friends.

Had another great meal here again, "The seafood medley" with a little variation from me, my husband had "The Hake" The food here is superb. Can`t recommend this place enough. Looking forward to our next visit.

We are regulars at this super village inn which is owned by a small company. We booked for Sunday lunch prior to the Big Race and, by golly, we made a good move. That wonderful grey, Neptune Collanges, came home in the National by a nostril to win on Saturday. What a race and what a superb peak to the season for Paul Nicholls and his team in Ditcheat. Having been to the village to see the parades of winners in the past we set out quite early so as to gain a good spot for the 12 noon parade. The day turned out to be brilliant. We met some lovely people in the crowd including Clifford's, the head lad, parents and the late start to the parade went largely unnoticed. Hunger was calling and my wife, granddaughter & I fought our way through the crowd to claim our table in the dining room of this super old pub with its flagstones and old features. The staff were fantastic and we didn't have to wait for a moment before we were seated and drinks ordered. The roast lunch featuring loin of beef, chicken, pork and lamb was irresistible even though there were many other dishes available on the more than comprehensive menu. It was no more than a thrice when the lunches were delivered with giant homemade Yorkshire puds (we all ordered beef!) steaming hot, slightly rare and with crispy roast potatoes and fresh vegetables. What a spread! The beef was tender and the whole meal was faultless. The young, well trained mainly female staff were attentive but not overbearing and friendly at the same time. Desserts were equally delicious as were the homemade petit fours with honeycombe which accompanied the coffee. Simon and his wife, the managers, came over to see if all was well and we were more than satisfied with the value for money at around £20 per head including drinks. We reluctantly left after a memorable morning acknowledging Paul Nicholls's at his lunch table as we passed and managing to stroke the Aintree Trophy! All in all a perfect lunch and this pub joins our list of South Somerset favorites along with the Three Horseshoes, Batcombe, Kings Arms, Charlton Horethorne and Masons Arms, Lower Odcombe. Somerset is brilliant for pubs! Thanks, Manor Inn. See you for the Gold Cup!!

We stayed for two nights whilst attending the races at Wincanton. Our room (Denman) was warm, comfortable and spotless and the bathroom beautifully appointed with the added bonus of under floor heating on those cold mornings. We dined in the restaurant on both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food and wine on offer, breakfast was equally as good and the service in both the restaurant and bar was excellent. The bar area has a great atmosphere (especially after a few local winners!) and a good selection of local beers available. Overall a great place to stay and we will certainly be visiting again.

A real winner!

Excellent service and food. It was probably the coldest night of the year but it was still warm and cosy in the pub. Well worth a visit.

This was an amazing find, we travel all over the world and food is often a dissapointment in many places. We were traveling on business and an associate told us how to find this place.
We arrived early evening (before the chef) but were told that we could eat as soon as the ovens and stoves were ready. The owner was very accomodating and did`nt keep us waiting long. The food was fantastic, my husband had the sea bass with crab mash and he said it was superb. I had king prawns in a garlic( and something else) sauce, it was great.
The service was good and overall the ambiance was excellent.
We felt that the price of the food was very reasonable considering that it was fine dining in a gorgeous country pub.

I stayed one night here on my own and hope to come back to enjoy it more.
It is a lovely old inn with the accommodation, originally out buildings, tastefully developed. The pub was humming on Saturday evening, not too crowded but certainly busy. The service was excellent, despite the fact that most of the evening staff were very young and probably students. They were clearly trained and well managed. My food was excellent with lamb that melted in the mouth and lots of fresh vegetables. Breakfast was cooked to order and I had a perfect soft poached egg, served hot on hot toast. How rare is that in a hotel/restaurant! My room was larger than most hotel rooms with a very large shower room attached. It was toastie warm despite a chilly night and the power of the shower was awesome. I was also given a flask of real milk in the room which had a kettle and tea/coffee. Parking was easy outside the door. All this for £75 per night for B&B, and an evening meal with 2 courses, 2 large glasses of wine and a brandy, just over £30. Superb.
