“Just Beautiful”

A rare sight of karstic limestone, a must to see while in Lebanon. Sad that they don't allow you to take photos

“Disappointed visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Service not up to par, boat trip just a few minutes and no information about what we saw.
You got the feeling the personnel were not happy about receiving visitors.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

This is a must see for Beirut visitors. They present these caves beautifully and manage the flow of people very well. You won't regret going there.

“Fantastic!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Such a fantastic place, it's amazing it exists!!! The only downpart is that it's not allowed to take photos.
Jeita Grotto consists of 2 planes, the upper one where you can walk one a build-up bridge. The decorations made by nature are amazing, stalactites and stalagmites are plentyfool, you just gaze on things in awe.. The lower level is a cave with a lake where you go by boat. Absolutely stunning, you tack between the different formations, like in a movie.
To get to Jeita grotto you can take a taxi from within Beirut to Dora round-about, just tell your cab driver to stop at Dora. Service taxi (shared one) costs 2000 LL/person, taxi (private) 10000 LL. Decide the price before you start rolling. From Dora you take any small bus going in direction to Byblos (ask anyone to point out which ones it is). The price is 3000 LL /person. Tell the driver you want to go to Jeita Grotto, they will stop at the road place from where you take a taxi up to the cave itself, about 7 km uphill. The taxi will cost you 15000-20000 LL.
It's a bit tricky to go to the caves on your own if it is your first day in Beirut, before you know how the things and traffic work, but go there on your last day, you'll feel much more comfortable with the traffic. Anyway, go when you want, just don't miss the Jeita Grotto!!!!!!
