My partner and I recently stayed at A J's Guesthouse Mudgee. Have to say it is nothing like what is advertised. The place is newly built and reminds me of something built in the Hills district which isn't far wrong considering thay sit amongst dozens of houses, suburbia. They say they are in the heart of the vineyardsand yes there are some grape vines down the road but what is out your front door and noisy and they dont tell you about is that they sit at the end of the Mudgee Airport and planes come in low to land.
The house is decorated nicely , though the six guestrooms that they have are a tad small but all come with ensuites and are nicely done , the colours could be a little less bright . pool is beautiful .
The guest shared lounge is spacious and comfortable.
The group that we were with stayed mid week when the rates were cheaper , but they don't do breakfast during the week which we found irritating since we were at a guesthouse.
The owners Paul and Mandy really tried hard but they seemed to be not very comfortable with their chosen profession.Nothing seemed natural and relaxing.
Would I stay there again ? Probably not. Definately ideal for a big group .
Would I visit mudgee again? you bet it is a great place .
