“Great place for a stop over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2012

My wife, our dog and myself stayed here in 2010 as we travelled around Spain. The hotel was very good and Cuenca is just beautiful with Las Colgadas(hanging houses).

The hotel had friendly staff and very clean rooms and our dog Betty was made very welcome. We enjoyed using our Spanish with the staff.

This exhibits all the fading splendour of a one-time 4* hotel. It looks a bit tatty in places nowadays. The receptionist tried to be oh! so efficient (and probably was) but someone obviously told her that a smile would be to admit defeat in the battle with the customer and so there was none. The garage was dirty, dingy and dismal with no height warnings anywhere apart from red painted concrete beams - not good for big 4X4s.....and they charge 12.50 +VAT for it! In the room, there were 10 paper leaflets in the plastic holder.....ten! ....do they really think anyone wants to sit and read through all that lot to find out about how things work and how much it costs to launder a pair of socks! The walk into the old quarter and las casas colgadas was OK so position is not an issue. WiFi may have been free, but as it didn't work most of the time (with inadequate bandwidth) it would probably create more problems to charge for it as at least they could say to a complainant that they didn't have to pay for it....and that just about sums up what will happen to this critical review....someone from the company will/may read it, shrug their shoulders......... and do nothing. Bad management.

Tired hotel that really only qualifies for 3 stars. The staff were surly and unhelpful, though the younger members did try better to be pleasant. Room was comfortable and clean but be aware that the lift is very small.
Be early for breakfast as items run out quickly and are not replenished - and don't be surprised if the toasters catch fire, it happened at least once each morning we were there!
Underground parking is limited, and an extra charge, and very tight with hard pillars and sharp turns on the entrance ramp.

Decent hotel for a night's stay as we drove through Cuenca. We walked up to the hanging houses maybe 15-20 away. There is metered parking across the street from the hotel. Very hard to navigate around city streets- poor signs. Also huge supermarket 5 minutes away where we got breakfast items and lunch food the next day. Go down street and turn right onto mini highway- 3 miles away.

Located outside old city of Cuenca but very close to it in a pleasant walk, beside a park. Nice room may be a little bit 'oldie' but comfortable, clean and quite big.
Parking car availability, restaurant and quite good breakfast.
Cuenca's downtown and its 'casas colgadas' deserves a visit by night.

I thought the hotel was very nice. the rooms were very clean and the shower was wondeful. the beds a bit hard for me, but cant please everyone. it takes about 20/30 minutes walking from the hotel to ´plaza mayor´ and most of it uphill. one night as it was freezing when
we were there, we took a taxi from plaza mayor to the hotel and it costed 3.50€.

We stayed for one night during a tour, and found first impressions of this hotel were very misleading, the plain metal cladded exterior hides a very nice interior and our room was reasonably sized, clean, and comfortable. The meal which was served to our tour group was plain, but very good quality and well cooked. It was a bit of a hike to the old town, but going along the river it was not a bad walk, and worth the effort.
