“Huge portions..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Well we just happened to walk past thus place and it looked inviting. We has decided to eat light so thought some salad and meat pate and maybe a small fish platter. Well the salad for 8€ was more than enough for two as well as the pate. The fish platter. Well that was €15 and you could easily feed 4 to 6 people with it. A deep fried mound of squid rings, calamari, langoustines and fish pieces. It looked liked an amazing heart attack on a plate..
The service was ok. Nothing special. Overall pleasant and well priced..

“pleasant local bar and restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

Busy local bar and restaurant serving good food. We ate there one afternoon off a menu del dia which was excellent value. The stars of the meal were huevos corral (eggs on top of sliced potatoes cooked in a lot of olive oil - sounds simple but it was delicious) and arroz negro (rice cooked with squid ink, startlingly black but also very good). Service was efficient and friendly, but we were with Spanish speakers which made life easier. Some of the bar staff speak good English.

“a scrummy dinner very NEAR the Parador”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

This is up in the Plaza just over the bridge. Jim wasn't willing to go out to the one further in to town, but could see the wisdom of one offering 10 E /per person (including house wine) restaurants nearby. El Coto was well reviewed and justifiably so. Other than having the be-bop music a bit loud for the few clientel (think we were the ONLY ones in the dining room at 8:30), the service was VERY good and pleasant, the food was delicious and promptly served, and the house wine all quite enough to have us leaving happy with our choice over the more elegant but expensive Parador. This represents the biggest difference since our first trips in Spain 13 years ago...many very NICE dinner choices OTHER than the Paradors.

“Nice environment, ok food...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

I really liked the place and the environment. Service was really good and waiters were really friendly. Overall the food was good. I recommend it!
Do not try beef!!!You have to taste paella and drink resoli (something like black ssambuca) and crema (something like Baileys).
