“holiday with the girls”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

This was a treat for 4 middle aged but young at heart ladies, will agree with all that was said, tea & coffee making facilities are required in the rooms, we all thought that the food had a good selection and the hotel was clean, agree with the snake show left after 5 minutes. Yes would agree not a 4 star but a 3 star plus, that been said for the moey that we paid (316.00 pp) cant fault it.

The hotel does definitely not look anything like the pictures, in fact it couldn't be more different!

In reality the Hotel is very tired looking and very very dated. Most areas require maintenance/deep cleaning (tiling around pool area/lift/lighting).

POOL & AREA - Crowded with old sunbeds, making the pool look even smaller than it is. Broken floor tiles which break all Health and Safety regulations.

BAR AND SEATING AREA - The outside section was fine, lots of tables and chairs meaning room for all. Inside it was full of dated cushioned chairs, and not the standard expected of a 4*, they were dirty and in need of a clean or the recommend option of being thrown out and replaced with modern, comfortable ones!

FOOD AND DRINK - Food was acceptable, choices could have been more varied with a bit mor falvour! Drinks were good and spirit measures were great! Snacks available all day (rolls, crisps, nuts etc)

STAFF - Could be friendlier, they don't speak or acknowledge you unless you approach them for something.

ENTERTAINMENT - Or should I say what entertainment?! Animation team were uninterested and did nothing to entertain the 'crowd', they barely acknowledged anyone. Bingo bingo bingo 4 nights in a row and a snake show with a lady clearly high on drugs full of cheap gags is not what is expected from a 4* hotel. Also her version of 'entertainment' was to go for people scared of snakes just to get laughs at their expense.A Robbie Williams concert video was played on the projector screen... bearing in mind the majority of guests were all over 60! No decent entertainment during the day ....overall very very boring ! Even the oldies looked bored. When the weather is not so great towards the end of season they definitely need to arrange some entertainments, possibly movies playing.
Animation team left on Friday night despite guests staying over the weekend/Monday - not that it would have made any difference as they barely spoke to anyone.

SUMMARY - Do NOT bother unless you are over 50, and even they could find somewhere better! The whole hotel needs an overall and bringing into 2012. A deep deep clean needed throughout with major maintenance. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to. anyone.

1) You are unable to call reception from the bedrooms
2) No 'manual' in room with hotel/local information or just restaurant times etc
3) Cleaner had day off on one day, towels available from reception ! Unacceptable!
4) TV had 2 news channels and 2 other channels in German/french (I think!). Plus it was an old 14" tv, again below a 4* standard. if your clientele are mainly British why not have British channels or even just music channels.. something/anything to alleviate the boredom of the rest of the hotel
5) No TV's in bar area
6) Shuttle bus needs to run more frequently. If you go at 10/11am then you are stuck in the location until the return shuttle at 4/5pm -unless you pay for a taxi back!
7) Pool too cold in October
8) Beds are very hard
9) Lighting in bathrooms very very poor
10) Beach towels available only with deposit.
11) Iron available on request with €20 deposit - don't bother its rubbish
12) Only 1 lift working, and that wasn't the safest !
13) AC doesnt work, apparently I read it gets switched off in September!!

I could go on and on about the negatives! As they say 'if it sounds like too good of a deal then it probably is'. It was a very cheap Groupon deal and lets say we learnt our lesson the hard way!

It is definitely worth paying extra for luxury and being closer to the city/town/beaches/nightlife.

The ola hotel was very clean, food was good and lots of it, good selection of drinks and snacks, rooms were basic but clean, only problem l had was that there were no provision to make tea or coffee in the rooms as you had to wait till you went down for breakfast. The staff were pleasent and friendly, the reception was very helpfull. There is a free coach that go`s to Arenal every day and Palma twice a week exept Sunday, and a bus stop right outside. I would recommend this hotel and would go back.

This is an ok hotel if you want a really having just returned dont know if it's because it's due to close on Monday but the hotel had no soul the entertaiment was dreadfull why put Bingo on at 9.30 at night and a snake charmer not what I expect from 4 star. Yes the food is good the location is very quiet yes theres a free bus but has to booked the day before! and leaves in the morning at returns late afternoon to the local town and Palma there were notices everywhere to say no inflatabals in pool but they were everywhere. yes the rooms were clean but no fridge or tea making faclities, this place needs a good overhaul to bring it up to a 4 star rating good evening entetaiment better transport facilities or downgrade it to what it is 3 star beds shockling incomfortable old floppy pillows

I was a bit apprehensive about booking this hotel due to negative reviews. However, we booked, went, and had a great time.
Our room was in block A, the one with reception on the ground floor.
The reception staff were courteous and explained where everything was and gave us details of restaurant times and bus timetables, and told us about the free bus service to El Arenal and to Palma. Other interactions with the reception staff were fine also.
The room was large, with a double bed plus a single and a sofa bed too. Big wardrobe with hangers, plus a spacious bathroom.
The restaurant food was good. Always freshly prepared meat or fish, always some pasta and 2 sauces, and a very good selection of dishes. There is also a microwave which people used to heat baby bottles in, so if the food wasn't warm enough (not something we found particularly, but I know some other reviewers mentioned it) you could put your plate in and give it a quick blast.
Like some others, we wouldn't really rate this as 4 star due to a few things like the orange cordial for breakfast when we would have liked fresh orange juice, but there really was nothing much to complain about in our eyes, except the fact that the air conditioning in the rooms was not working. When we asked at reception they said they turn it off at the end of September. Why? It's still really warm! We ended up leaving the patio doors open all night to keep cool.

Lots of cats around the hotel, but they were cute (and I don't particularly like cats) and not any bother to anyone.
As others have said, the evening entertainment was a kid's disco, then bingo. Most evenings we went to the Italian restaurant (Focaccia) down the road next to the supermarket in the small shopping strip.
Wine was cheap and nice (it being Spain, of course it was), and they had Fosters lager. They also had Strongbow for 1 day until it ran out and they said they wouldn't get it in again until next year. Shame.
We took advantage of the free bus to Palma and enjoyed a day walking around there. Also got the free bus to El Arenal twice. You have to book these a day in advance at reception. El Arenal resort is 100% German, so don't bother looking for a British pub there. 2 sunbeds and a shade on the beach was 15 Euro for the day.
For the price we paid £320 including Ryanair flights, the holiday was very good value and an enjoyable experience.

Very clean, basic rooms with small balcony. Good service - not really a four-star, more a good three star. Food excellent and plentiful, drinks not great, but not bad for the price paid. Lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds. Some terrible entertainment in the evenings, but some really good including a live group who were excellent. Took some time for the sun to come over the hotel blocks. Some nice restaurants down the road and a 20 minute walk to the coast, which is very rocky, but stunning view of the coastline. Nice area with a large supermarket nearby. Free bus to the beach/shops and back again later on - coast resort lovely with clean sands and plenty of shops/restaurants and a lovely shady park with a fountain. About a 20 minute taxi ride from Palma Airport which seemed to vary in cost - about 20 euros. We had a very nice time and would go again. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor felt at risk of being burgled - safe was available in room, but deposit needed...
