“Good local food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2012

We went to this restaurant twice whilst staying in Roses, as it was one of the few open. It was absolutely full of people on both occasions. Despite how busy the waiting staff were, the service was good and the food very good. It could be expensive for separate dishes and for tapas (depending on how many plates you ordered), but the set menu at 13.50 Euros was excellent value. We would certainly return.

“Good food, poor service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

We were looking for a place to have lunch. Took my phone out and went online to this site to search for a restaurant in Roses. I found Las Palmeras. It took a long time for our server to get to our table after the hostess seated us. We ordered our food right away since the hostess had given us menus. He never came back with bread (all the other tables had bread.) About an hour later the food came. I had the Catalonian Pizza. It was quite good, my husband had the tomato and chevre cheese, he liked it a lot. My kids' food was ok. My nephew (he's a chef) had the squid. It was like rubber, way too much garlic (his description:" It was like chewing on a rubber band flavored with raw garlic.")
One of my sons' meal came with dessert. We had to ask twice for it.

All and all an great place to sit and have a drink. Good spot to sit to have a drink on the beach but stick to the pizza and don't be in any rush to get served.

“what a disappointment”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2010

Having read the reviews of this restaurant before going to Roses, and seeing it was number 2 of recommended restaurants (after world class Es Bulli), I thought it must be worth trying for our last lunch of our holiday. We were encouraged when we saw the number of locals eating there and everything that they were eating when we arrived looked fresh and appetising. Service was slow and, as we only had 90 minutes for lunch (we literally had a plane to catch), we carefully avoided choosing dishes that stated 20 minute wait (e.g. paella). We ordered the cod with honey and aoili and the waitress said it would take 20 minutes (mot mentioned on the menu). We said that would be OK as long as it wasn't longer as we had to leave for the airport. The dish arrived after 7-9 minutes and this should have alerted us. The fish was grey, dry and definately not fresh (puzzling as the markets and supermatkets are bursting with the freshest fish). I thought we had accidentally ordered the reconstituted salt cod but the waiter assured us it was not salt cod and was fresh. As we were pushed for time we did not argue, we picked at the fish smothered in disgusting garlic/honey blamange and ate the frozen skinny fries and salad that accompanied it. Looking at the food served to other people around us, we can't help feel they saw us coming. They say you can expect to get 'stung' once on holiday and our visit to Las Palmeras was our turn to get stung. At 13.50 euros for each main course, we would have been better with a plate of chips!!

“unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2010

It looked like just another beach restaurant we went in because it was the only one open!
Food was amazing. The presentation was excellent. We had melon with parma ham to start and it was enormous and so juicy a meal in itself. Then we had cod with honey and aoli again so good. With wine it was all less than 30 euro!!!!!!
