“A great hotel with a wonderful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights, and had a sea view room on the 5 th floor. All of the sea-facing rooms have their own little balcony-perfect for having that drink in the evening. The room also had a fridge, which was very handy. One can walk into Roses along the path alongside the coast, which takes about 40 minutes or so at a leisurely pace.
Breakfast was included in the price and was quite adequate.
The hotel claims to have its own supermarket, but we did not discover it. There is a small shop around the corner, selling whatever one may need. The 'free' parking is street parking which can be difficult to find as it is a very busy little area. There was absolutely no written information about the hotel in the room, so we were unaware that if we wanted to use the safe, we had to ask at reception for the key; we thus also had' no idea of any other regulations/safety issues that may have been useful.
A sea-view room is highly recommended if outstay in this hotel. It is a great place for the price.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a sea facing room.

This hotel is far better than a 3*. We booked a room with a sea view which was well worth the extra money. The room was a great size and had been recently refurbished. The room had great facilities, air-con, fridge, seating area etc - the balcony was big enough to relax and enjoy. Location wise this hotel ticks all the boxes - its right next to the beach in a quiet area outside of Roses. There is parking under the hotel that costs extra but you can easily park on the road outside for free. The staff are really friends and the whole place is kept really clean. Breakfast is super and has loads of choice - if you eat there at night time then the restaurant offers great quality food and service at keen prices. An excellent place to stay and the room rates are really good value.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room - well worth the extra

We found this hotel good value for money. It was of really good quality to be a 3*. Location is superb, just opposite to a very nice beach. Nice little pool area. The continental buffet breakfast was also quite good with Nespresso coffee which was a plus for me.
Rooms were a good size and the cot for our baby was quite nice. It was also nice to have a balcony too. Nice and clean bathroom.
We dined twice in the hotel and found the food to be fairly good. We had a mountain view and we had no noise whatsoever, although I understand that the rooms with sea view may be noisier.
Only negative I can find is the parking. Parking is free in the area but it may be difficult to find a spot during the peak times when a lot of people come from everywhere to the beach. Parking in the hotel was full and was expensive (nearly 18 euros a day), though no more than other hotels in the area.
In all, I thought it was an excellent hotel for the price and I would definitely go back if in the area.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 nights which was a bit of a gamble as we hadn't been to Roses before but we were absolutely thrilled with the hotel and its location. We had booked a sea view room as advised by other reviewers and it was well worth the extra. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and great coffee. The staff were extremely helpful with a special mention to Jorgie the barman who was great. The hotel is about a 40 min. walk outside Roses which suited us but there is a good bus service to take you into the main town if you wish to go there, we preferred to stay around the location of the hotel and can recommend the restaurant next door to the hotel called 'Cal Catala' the food there is very good. This hotel should be upgraded to a 4* hotel - would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Definitely book a sea view room even though it might cost a bit more

Me and my wife stayed at the canyelles platja for four nights when we travelled around Spain this summer. We loved the hotels location and the views were great from our balcony. We booked half board which can be a bit of a gamble with some hotels but the food was good in the evening. The reception bar area was lovely and relaxing although you can wait a bit for a drink. The pool was small but ok for a small hotel, when we stayed there the was quite a few kids splashing around so we used the beach which was lovely. We would return and would recommend this hotel.

This 3 star hotel has some excellent features, and some disappointing ones! The breakfasts were really good, lots of choice and excellent fruit. They had Nespresso coffee too.
The room was fine but the air con did not work as well as in our 1 star hotel. It is in a lovely situation, on a beautiful cove . All of this area was very busy in July school holiday period, and if you did not get to the beach before 11 am there was little chance of getting a sunbed.
The pool area is very very small and has 8 reclining sunbeds and 3 - 4 parasols. It would be fine for children but too exposed if you were not wanting an audience.

I don't know why some hotels do not have some info on meal times, air con operation, beach charges, etc in each room. It would be very helpful.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. We booked a sea view, i haven't seen the other non sea view rooms but would definitely book a sea view room again. The balcony was the perfect size for 2 guests. The rooms were quite basic in a way but were done up very nicely, the bed was nice and large and was very comfortable. It was quite noisy in the room sometimes but oddly was never woken up by noise in the night. The restaurant had good food, not the best choice of menu but was good. There isn't a great deal in walking distance but is close to other places by car. The beach is beautiful and the pool looked lovely. We stayed in April, over Easter and didn't pay for the hotel parking as there was always a space on the streets close enough by. The breakfast was also lovely. Would have liked some tea/coffee facilities though ideally. Would stay again.
