“Second visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

This was our second visit to this charming hotel. Our first stay was the week they opened, and although we had a lovely stay, there were obviously some teething problems.
The hotel can be hard to find without a GPS, but the situation is ideal. A short walk from the beach, restaurants, and free parking, yet in a quiet back street.
Reception staff were very pleasant, and helpful.
Our room was spacious, with a small secluded terrace. Bathroom was large with good quality toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.
Secluded terrace with loungers.
Breakfast was outstanding, with a good quality wide range of foods. The coffee was excellent.
Only complaint is that although the room was large, there was nowhere to sit, except for the bed. There was no table or desk either, which was inconvenient. Wifi, at a small charge, was very high speed.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: room 406, large, but lacking furniture. Spacious terrace with loungers.

We chose this hotel for the location near Cadaques and the very affordable price... We were so happy and very surprised to feel pampered!!!!! The bathroom amenities of great quality and my
favorite, rooms nicely decorated, simple and comfortable, and most important the family and
human touch. The owner's three boys really try their best. The day we arrived we went around
and around but were lost, we called and one of them came on foot to take us there. The breakfast
was beautifully served on lace mantelpiece with many gourmet items, delicious!!!! The receptionist
was very kind and helpful. Thanks and keep the good work and quality.

Great hotel. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Superb location, a few minutes from the beach and next door to a great little French cafe. Rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. During the day there is complimentary coffee/Danishes etc, never never had that before!!! Highly recommended.

We stayed at this hotel in February. We chose it based on the location; it is in the center of the village, and it is just right next to the beach. Yet, amazingly quiet area. The hotel is brand new, it has a very warm mediterranean ambiance.
Staff has been very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. They recommended wonderful restaurants, places to visit in and nearby areas of Roses.
Briefly, if you are looking for a cozy hotel, friendly staff this hotel is perfect.
We will definitely stay again at Carmen Hotel if I go back to Roses.

We booked the luxury room in July, during the heatwave. The hotel was nice, with a balcony, though the heat was stifling, so didn't get to use it. Breakfast was nice, and staff very friendly. We managed to find the hotel okay, with the Sat-Nav - it would be difficult without. Parking is difficult to find at this time of year, and the problem is, that if you go site seeing, it could take a while finding a new space. Overall, I would recommend the hotel.
We originally intended to stay at Cadeques, however, I'm glad we stayed in Roses - it's less sophisticated, but the beach and general tourist amenities at Roses is better. We drove to Cadeques one day and it is quite a dangerous road, not for the faint hearted -parking is also hard to find there - better to take the bus, or better still, one of the many boat excursions around the coast, at reasonable prices. The bars and restaurants are nice, and it's a good place to come for 4-5 days, and take in some of the water sports on offer.
If you are flying in to Girona, you should consider just taking the bus, and avoid the hastle and expense of bringing a car. If you have a large family and coming during the peak period, I would then try to book parking via the hotel.

Even though we arrived late at night we were given a very warm welcome at the hotel. We were able to unload our bags outside the hotel then we moved our hire car to secure parking that we had pre-booked.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Carmen, it was a perfect base for exploring the area. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, it was very peaceful, the rooms large and exceptionally comfortable with memory foam pillows and good quality mattresses and luxurious en suite.

The breakfast buffet was very well presented with lots of choice and we were greeted by the very friendly chef every morning and offered cooked eggs. Even though we were the only guests one mornings we were made a very special buffet. Nothing was too much trouble.

A lovely hotel and we hope to return one day.
