“fantastic hotel fantastic holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

this was our first visit to cyprus! i'm very picky when it comes to finding a holiday and i have to be sure ive made the right choice. i certainly did with atlantica sungardens! where do i start! after a long delay we arrived at the hotel at 4 in the morning instead of 11pm we were greeted by the receptionist and the porter who helped us of the bus and were waiting to collect our luggage after very quick check in we were taken to our rm where a much needed chilled bottle of water waited for us our rm was amazing very spacious we even had a dining table and a kitchenette with a large fridge freezer the balcony was fantastic we had our own sun beds and parasol and chairs and table the rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day towels changed daily and sheets changed regulary you also get a pool towel each which can be exchanged on a mon wed n sat.we were on the far end of the resort so it was very quiet overlooking the sea and the activity pool.the weather is very hot but thats what i went for it got upto 52'c in the sun most days but there is plenty of shade if it gets too hot that was 36'c. as usual theres the normal complaints with the sunbeds but its not really an issue i'm an early riser so i went down at 6 to get the beds i just used this time to read my book in quiet while the kidz n hubby were still sleeping! the pool attendant does go round the pools at 6:15 and if there are beds with towels unattended he will remove the towels! the pools are lovely and clean and surrounding areas well cared for.i spent all my time at the activity pool the entertainment staff are fantastic with the kidz they even took the time out to take part in the lilo olympics the kidz had created.special mention to jordan luke and disco danni. there were lots of activities during the day including waterpolo and football for over 16's. the food! what can i say it was amazing for brekkie you had all your cooked english, all yogurts and fruits then all ya cold meats and cheeses, fresh baked rolls and bread. then u have different flavour doughnuts waffles, pancakes, chocolate cakes! for lunch you can jus have snacks at the pools bars where they serve fruit, mini sausage rolls, cheese puffs pizza, sandwiches, or the restuarant serves lots of meals from fresh fish, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, chips, spring rolls, salads etc theres too much to mention! dinner it another great meal every night is a theme you will never go hungry and the al a carte is a must my children loved it pity u can only go once during your stay! drinks! they is a wide range u have ya wines, champagne, soft drinks, cocoktails, beer called keo, spirits,e. gin, vodka tequila, rum, brandy whisky, slush puppies milk shakes, teas and coffees. it does say on the rules only one drink per person ata time but that isnt the case! also the rules say u have to wear proper shoes at dinner but dnt panic they are not strict but men must not wear sleeveless tshirts in the restuarant! all drinks in the bar and restuarant are waiter service. loved akos!! all staff are very friendly and work very hard nothing is too much the hotel manager walks round during the day to say hello and the restuarant manager always there to make sure your ok! i think the entertainment team work very hard all though they experienced some staffing problems they had all new staff but they pulled it toghther! the beach is very clean altho you do have to pay a small charge to use the beds. there is two shop across the road selling papers sweets drinks milk souveniers tobacco suncreams etc u also get a discount if your staying at the hotel! there are lots of bars shops and restuarants jus down the road about a 5 min walk we went to a lovely bar called the george and the dragon it was very cheap only 2 euros a pint! the staff speak enlish and very welcoming.i will warn you though it does get very very humid at night so be prepared to sweat buckets and the walk back may get to you. we tried not to stay out too late at night it was toooo humid sometimes and it made you tired. we didnt go on any trips as were just wanted to completely unwind but apparently they were very good. there is a water park near and also there was a fairground near by! i have not got one thing bad to say about our holiday apart from the weight gain :-( u do get to hear lots of people moaning about various things but it all down to personal preference and what you expect from a holiday but in my opinion you cant go wrong with atlantica sungardens.

Room Tip: definatly ask for a room high up for amazing views we stayed in 952 corner suite and for a quiet are...

I have been back 2 weeks now from what was the best family holiday that we have ever had! There was a group of 19 of us including 2 kiddies (7 and 5) and I could not have picked a better hotel for the party! We were greeted on arrival by Nicos the Hotel Manager (Nicos is a lovely man and he even was at our Wedding on 13 August handing out the champers!) All of the party was very happy with the accommodation and we got upgraded to a Suite overlooking the Carp Pond which as gorgeous! The food and service at the resturants was brilliant all 19 of us ate together every evening and we always had a table reserved for us, nothing was ever too much trouble, for the Wedding we had the Alacarte Resturant and Yannis the manager was extremely attentive with all of our guests! Our wedding day went so smoothly it was amazing, Amy our wedding coordinator looked after everything we wanted and more she was fantastic! I have got to say a special mention to all of the Thomson Family Club Entertainment Team most of all Jordan, they work so hard to entertain all the guests! Im sure you remember us (The Hertford Crew!)

If you want any more information please dont hesitate to conact me!

Hope to come again next year!!

One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the good reviews thru Trip Advisor and Thomson Holidays - and they were very helpful.
The whole experience certainly was 5 star!!
The Manager Nicos and his team were superb. Always very helpful, very pleasant, nothing was too much for any of them.
The rooms were really good, comfortable and spacious. Food was great quality and varied every day.
The TUI/Thomson Animation team were first class - special note for Jordan as it was his first week in charge
Genuine tears on departure, wish we could have stayed longer and would recommend Sun Garden to anyone, especially with children.

Room Tip: Two areas - the main hotel, serving a quieter pool, still good for children, pool bar and main hotel...

Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Atlantica Sungarden Hotel. We travelled as 4 adults and 4 children aged 9 to 15. The hotel is clean, tidy and very well maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the restaurant staff are excellent, as soon as you sit down they are there asking what you want to drink and your empty plates are cleared within minutes of finishing your meal. Also the food is very good and lots of variety to choose from. The daytime entertainment is good, music and games around the pool all day with water polo and football in the afternoons too. PLEASE NOTE: Water polo and football is for over 16's only, although i think its fair to say that it is to risky for under 16's to play water polo with adults i think thompson should have a kids football game too as some of the adults were unhappy that their kids could not play football, its not the reps fault they could not play with the adults its all to do with legal reasons these days, after all everyones to quick to sue people now so you can't blame them.
Night time entertainment was ok, its mixed with the German entertainment team but dont let that put you off as the German crew were excellent fun and they speak excellent English too, in fact the German team were very good especially their dance show routines.
The swimming pool is lovely and a very comfortable temperature, the brochure mainly shows pictures the infinity pool area but the other pool is bigger and better with a swim up bar and thats where all the daytime fun and games are held. Before i travelled i noticed nobody really mentioned the sunbed situation but trust me if your not down before 7.30am then its unlikey you will get a bed, some were up from 5.30am getting their spots by the pool although 1 day management did remove towels at 6am one morning, thats fine but if they are going to that then they need to be around still to stop any arguements rather than just remove towels and walk off.
The sea view rooms are very good and worth paying for but it is only the sea you can see and not the beach as the beach is just under a 10 min walk to the right. The beach near the hotel is not very nice at all, looks ok but there are no english people there but it does have jetskis and rings ect. You are supplied with beach/pool towels which you can change several times a week so no need to pack beach towels and go over that luggage weight. We had a junior suite with sea view and the room was what i expected really, pretty average, 1 pillow each and a fairly hard bed. The bathroom is just a little to small, no room to swing a cat, but the rooms were always cleaned well and towels changed every other day. The best part of the rooms are the large balconys with your own sunbeds, umbrella and superb views. TV in the room is pointless unless you want to watch BBC World news as the rest of the channels are foreign so pack that ipod dock.
The lobby area is very nice with a huge outside balcony overlooking the pool and sea, great place to start and end the night off. Also free wifi is an added bonus but trying to get a connection at peak times like 8.30pm is hard work and when you do its sooooo slow.

Although it might sound like there are some negative points in this review they are not there to put you off this lovely hotel, this is the best holiday i have had in years and would highly recommend this to a friend.

Thank you Sungarden and Thompson for a fantastic holiday and an excellent rating to all the staff and all the the entertainment team including the non english teams.

Room Tip: Junior suites with large balconys are excellent with great views of the pool and sea.

Absolutely fantastic hotel and staff. Could not ask for more. Our family holiday was amazing and it is all down to this hotel and its staff. They are most friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much for them!
We got married on the 10th August 2012 and it was perfect. The hotel manager Mr Nicos saw everything through himself and nothing was to much bother. Yiannis the waiter was amazing with his service and welcoming attitude. We got instant room upgrade which was fantastic. Amy our wedding planner went above and beyond to get us what we wanted!
The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and the views are amazing. Room service daily. Entertainment is great during the day or there is a quiet pool to escape this. Evening entertainment is typical Thomson with kids club and shows. The children in our party loved it!The entertainment team where excellent, friendly approachable and very enthusiastic - we dont know how they kept going all day!
The food is excellent, hot, great choice and themed nights daily. Drinks are good and cocktails are included in AI.
Location is up a slight hill but only 5 minute walk away from all the shops and tavernas. There is 2 supermarkets on site and 1 of them you get discount for staying there.
We would definatel return to this hotel for another holiday!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are clean comfortable and spacious - cant go wrong!

I'm sad to be wrting a negative review for a hotel I had been so much looking forward to, but it has to be done. This is a result of 3 mishaps, and management+staff's unwillingness to make things right.

This is my family's second visit to the hotel. We knew exactly what kind of room we wanted and booked it with tui several months in advance.

Sadly, we didn't get the seaview room in the main building. Instead we were 'upgraded' to the furthermost bungalow in the garden, facing the busy road. Seaview existed only from the patio, and at a wierd angle. The room was spacious, my wife unwilling to pack/unpack again so I didn't complain. Shuttling the kids through the garden looked interesting in the beginning, but got cumbersome 6 times in the day in 35 C weather.

The troubles continued. The plastic showerhead was peeling off and I cut myself while bathing our kid. The showerhead was replaced the next day.

With 3 days to go, I first told the tui agent I was not very happy - no action. I spoke with desk staff and was told I should've complained earlier.

Finally, my wife had a nasty reaction to shellfish served for dinner and vomited a few times (she was the only person in the family eating it). The doctor thought it was not classic food poisoning, but that it might have been some combination of reaction to that shellfish and some virus our kids had. Whatever the true cause, an (expensive) day was lost and made miserable.

With now 2 days to go I presented info all this to the manager. He was semi-polite but kept blaming me ('I didn't know about your problems, you should have emailed me in advance about you room request regarding the aquarium level, other people didn't get a reaction to shellfish, etc'). In the end, I said I wanted to be given the room I had paid for and have the hotel staff transfer our belongings piece by piece. He refused. Hence this review that doesn't do justice to the hard-working staff ofthe hotel (we where pleased to see Nedko and Lenka from 2 years ago). But, the rating evens out to medium when combined with my original raving review and that is the right rating over time.
