“Great location and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2008

Returned yesterday from Cyprus and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Loutsianna. You get what you pay for - no more or less. Clean spacious rooms, lovely pool area and friendly staff. You do have to pay 6 Euro per unit per night for air con we paid for the bedroom air con as it was so hot (35 degrees +) - it was impossible to sleep without it - as we discovered the first night! But the fact the accomodation was such good value anyway - we didnt mind paying for it.

The location was fab, within 5 mins walk of gorgeous Macronissos Beach - also only 10 mins to Nissi Beach which is popular and worth checking out, but if you are wanting to relax Macronissos is the better option- less hustle and bustle. There was also plenty of choice for eating out and I would reccommend The Garden Of Eden - 5 mins from Loutsianna.
The food at Loutsianna itself was ok - nothing special but perfectly ok if you cant be bothered to venture out, but we enjoyed going out every evening and returning to Loutsianna bar for drinks. Aiya Napa is 5 mins on local bus 1.50 euros, good for gift shopping and more eating/drinking out. The nightlife doesnt actually get going till 11/12pm so plently of time to get out the way before the place is swarmed with drunken teens!....unless you like that sort of thing. Not worth getting a taxi as the bus stops right outside the Loutsianna. Overall fab place to stay. Will definitely go back.

  • Liked — value for money, pool area, locality to beaches and amenities
  • Disliked — paying for air con - in a climate such as cyprus, surely its a neccesity! much as a toilet!

We returned last night from Cyprus.

We have family and friends in Cyprus so we used the hotel as a base.

We were pleasantly suprised with the quieter semi rural location, despite the traffic noise when you were sat around the pool.

Our apartment - 207, ground floor - was clean and basic but smelt damp and of cigarette smoke when we went in the door! The smell did not really go, sad to say!

The bathroom was narrow and we found the bath to be very slippy so please be aware of this.

We had one meal there and it was the best we had - we saw some Greek people dining and asked the waiter if we could have the same, a meze - not an overload one of a million dishes - it was yummy!

Dont miss Mr Rodeo the country singer/karaoke act that comes along - if you are of an age to appreciate this type of music you will enjoy the man in black.

Pool area was lovely but the sunbeds are ohhhh sooooo close together and were claimed by the early rising sunbed claimers - if you are not awake early enough you wll not be left with much choice! The pool is really pretty and there is a little swing area behind it for the little ones. The flowers in pots around and about are very pretty and a credit to the owners. It was a bit too crowded for us around the pool so we just walked two minutes to the Cosmelina apartments next door - we ate there also and it was lovely. We found this pool are more spacious and had at that time more quieter guests.

It can get noisy around the open air pool bar at night time - we were woken by two men playing pool and shouting with excitement (perhaps drink induced ) at their scores etc - it was their holiday too when all is said and done .

We almost walked into Ayia Napa - plenty of buses etc and if you walk across the road from our hotel you could get onto the promanade that goes all along the beaches.

To sum up - a nice hotel/apartments - a week was enough though.

The staff are lovely and the lady on reception is very helpful in all aspects of looking after you from arrival to departure. A hire car was arranged via the hotel and the price was a good one.

We have just returned from a very restful time in the Loutsiana and would go back tomorrow if I could. As we booked it as a last minute deal we wondered what sort of place we would be in,What a lovely suprise when we arrived. We were greeted like long lost friends .
The appartments and complex were very clean at all times, the maids never seemed to stop.George in the bar tried to make sure everyone was happy and there is a great bbq on Sat nights.(Elvis is alive and doing well in Cyprus)
Although there is a lack of cooking facilities we managed to cater well for ourselves and found out on the last day we could have borrowed a toaster.A great hotel, my idea of Heaven.

I can recommend the Loutsiana Apartments. Our one-bedroom unit (300) was spacious and at the end of one of the 2-storey blocks. The Loutsiana is 4km from the centre of Ayia Napa (a lively resort in season) and has farmland on three sides making it very quiet. This suited my partner and me as we are both just retired. The pool area was very picturesque with lots of bougainvilleas, fan palms, and even a banana tree with fruit! A jacuzzi was built into one end of the pool. Generally, we prefer swimming in the sea, but this pool was good and very clean. In fact, the apartment complex was generally notable for its cleanliness.
We decided not to hire a car, but use the buses. For 80c (about £1 - the cost of each ride on a local bus) you can go quite a long way and see what areas you would like to explore further.
There are lots of safe beaches with crystal clear water along the south-facing coast west of Ayia Napa, most within walking distance of the apartments, the best being Nissi Bay.
We hired bikes at CY£4 per day and rode to a fishing village, Potamos, which is not served by buses. There is a cycle track virtually all the way, so although we hadn't cycled for 25 years, it was safe and easy level riding.
Not having been to Cyprus before, we were not ready for the lack of some 'necessities', such as a corkscrew, tea towel, dishcloth and gas lighter or matches in the apartment. We knew not to expect an electric kettle or toaster, but there were several vacant power sockets. I was also expecting a 'welcome pack' of basic groceries, but Thomas Cook don't do them in Cyprus, apparently. The 'supermarket' on the site was very handy.
The daytime temperature was in the 80sF and not much cooler at night, but we didn't need the air-conditioning that is available.
Local restaurants are great, but mostly similar to the Loutsiana, which was good. Our favourite was the Axartis, opposite the water park, about 7 minutes walk away, where Peter cooks fresh local fish and makes his own mousaka, etc. When not too busy, he'll entertain customers with his accordion. A reasonable bottle of local wine there costs CY£5.80.
It was the end of the season, but the decor was still fresh, no squashed mosquitoes on the walls (never bitten by anything). When we reported that a lamp and the bathroom extractor fan didn't work, they tried to fix it the same day, although neither mattered to us. As it needed an electrician, they offered us an alternative unit, but we stayed put. Beds were comfortable, and the linen changed frequently during our stay.
Generally, a great holiday - sunny and warm weather, friendly folk and good food. The travelling was uneventful for us, and the rep., although new to the area, tried to be very helpful.
