“Good Hotel , OK Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for four nights in the middle of May 2013. We got a good price on a last minute deal with Thomas Cook, after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor i had high hopes.
To be fair this hotel lived up to most of these hopes. The common areas are clean and tidy and well kept, the restaurant and bar is also excellent and modern. The staff are very helpful and the food (i only had breakfast) was very good and there was plenty of choice. The sun lounge area and pool area was excellent, clean and tidy with room for many. The staff will often come and check on you to see if you want further drinks or any assistance. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the main strip of bars and clubs and about 2 minutes from the beach front.
Now the bad bits (sorry to say). The rooms are that of a 3 star maybe near to 4 star hotel. They are very small and not overly well soundproofed. My biggest problem with the room we had was the heat, i went to cyprus in the low season (temp outside about 24oC) and the room we had was extremely hot even with the in room air-conditioning (if you can call it that) on full blast. I can imagine this problem being unbearable when the temps sore. I was tempted to speak with the staff about it however after speaking to another guest they had the same problem so i didn't see the point. The bathroom was OK although there is a very strange window that links the bedroom to the bathroom (there is a blind to close this off). The shower in the bathroom however is rubbish unless your 5ft or below, low powered and at a very low level on the wall. Other than these issues that bathroom was OK. The TV in the room shows about 3 english speaking news channels and that is your lot, there is a free to use safe in the rooms also. The balcony is clean and ok.
I would say overall taking into account the good and the bad points this hotel is a 4 star hotel. Its a hotel i would be happy to stay at but would not re-visit.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

We recently returned from a weeks honeymoon at the Napa Mermaid.
As a honeymoon couple I didn't feel like we received any special treatment and were treated like any other guest. On arriving we were given a small room on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking lot with a side sea view which was not great, I immediately went down to reception and told them it was our honeymoon (showed our marriage certificate and emailed prior to arriving) and requested if there was anything better available and was given a 4th floor room overlooking the pool area which was a nicer view although exactly the same rooms size and configuration. While we appreciate them providing us with another room I feel that because the hotel appeared less than half full there were far nicer empty rooms on the front etc. that they could have given us for our special occasion. We were not looking for a freebie but considering it was out of season and the hotel was pretty empty I don't feel they would have lost anything by upgrading us to a better room.
Overall the hotel is very nice with a few minor issues. Here is a summary of the good and bad points.
The Good:
Stylish design hotel, newly renovated and contemporary feel, also very clean.
Staff are very friendly and professional, especially Antoni around the pool, always smiling and happy to chat and the restaurant and bar staff were great.
Location is good, 15-20 min walk in to main town and the square.
Nice beach across the road although be advised that there is a busy road in front of the hotel which didn't really affect us but you will hear the odd truck passing by whilst laying around the pool.
Plenty of sun loungers available around the pool.
Great cocktails in the bar.
Free wifi
The Bad:
corridors can be very noisy late at night (around 3:30am) we got woken up on 2 nights by drunk people shouting at the top of their voices. Soundproofing of the rooms could definately be improved. Although this is more down to inconsiderate rude people and not the hotel.
No porter to take us or our bags to our room, we arrived around 8pm which I didn't think was late and we had to take our own bags.
The food while not bad was average in our opinion, the breakfast was the same everyday; lacked choice, no omelette station or eggs to order and bacon and sausages (actually frankfurters) poor quality.
Dinner was also average, again no freshly prepared dishes ie grill station and did get repetitive. While we are not huge fans of buffets I felt that we have had better elsewhere.
In conclusion, depending on the price you pay this is overall a lovely hotel with all the amenities one would desire and we believe that the 4 star rating is accurate.

Was there last weekend with a group of friends. We all had a nice time and everyone was pleased. Napa mermaid must have been renovated lately as it has a fresh modern look. Very clean and staff very friendly. It's located across the road from the beach and less than a km away from napa square. Bars and restaurants running all the way into Napa begin less than 100 meters away from the hotel. The fact that its not in the center of things is a big plus as you can enjoy quiet evenings and days by the pool without being to far away from the action.

We stayed at Napa Mermaid from 25th March to 1th April and really enjoyed it! The room (standard with side seaview) was nice and large enough for the two of us with a nice (but small) balcony, water kettle for tea/coffee, and free internet. The only minor detail we did not like with the room, was the window between the bathroom and bedroom...Clean and modern hotell with smiling and very service minded staff, excellent breakfast buffet, perfect pool + sunbeds + towelservice and the beach just accross the road was very, very nice!

Excellent small hotell on the quiet, west side of Aiya Napa. Standard rooms rather small for a longer stay. Junior Suites the best choice. Would recommend to any couple, but not to families with children. Breakfast buffet ordinary, lunches and dinners somewhat below what could be expected. Parking rather crowded over week-ends.

We stayed 11th -18th March 2013. We had a really great break and the weather was kind to us. The hotel was not very full until the weekend when, as it was a Cypriot festival, became fully booked out. The service was the same at all times - great! The only minor problems we encountered were that the mattresses were very, very firm, but we liberated some mattress toppers from housekeeping and this helped, also, whilst watching an English film one evening, reception re-tuned into a football game! I complained and the retuned back until after the film. In general not many english channels but didn't really worry us.

All the staff very lovely and the whole hotel was super clean. We loved the vast bar food menu, great cocktail bar and the hotel is beautifully appointed with modern contemporary furniture everywhere.

Room Tip: We had a standard room, but with a sea view on the 4th floor, great view of the sea!
