“Hotel changing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Hi
Just returned after 3 years to this hotel and what a change
it become no longer a british hotel with thomsom and first choice no longer being there but it's now east europeon in its ways
sunbeds are booked the night before i think as 6:30 in the morning all the good ones are taken and apart from the few continuous returners the attitude of guest has now become less friendly
such shame as it was a so friendly hotel

Room Tip: choose high and renovated room

Hi all,
Once again we were all back to Grecian Sands. All of the staff were pleased to see us once again, must be 1997 when we first started going.
Still the best view in the whole of Cyprus down the bay right into the harbour. This year was a little different, the hotel had made lots of improvements since last year including a totally new lift and changes to the already wonderful garden area. A totally new food area outside on the terrace.
Special thanks to Liam Nugent the Thomas Cook rep, my wife lost her purse on the plane coming to Larnaca, he moved heaven and earth to locate it and we picked it up at Larnaca a few days later. Most of the gang were there this year although we lost one dear friend to the dreaded big C earlier in the year. You were in all of our hearts Gerry. Eilis will be there next year, she assures me. Dagmar did not come and Ruth was ill during the week and had to go home early. Never mind I am sure we will all be together again next year.
This hotel continues to be the best placed most friendly place for miles around, the hotel manager even arranged a special lunch on the Thursday for all of us. All of the staff are excellent and always make a point of being extra special and friendly, most of them have been there since the place opened.
A short walk down the road and there is a plethora of very good reasonably priced places to eat, special mention goes to Eleana, Christine the owner gets married this year we have an invite to the wedding in November. Marquis de Napa is another great place to eat, the pub side is called George and Dragon, Stavros and his wife are good friends so is Andonis and his wife who is also the cook. The food and atmosphere there is second to none. Evo the barman probably makes the finest Brandy Sours in the area. He is Bulgarian but him and his wife and child are now resident in Cyprus. Excellent place to eat and drink. The town of Ayia Napa is only a short walk from there all the bars and night clubs you would wish for.
We will be back next year to see all of them again along with all of our friends, just go and enjoy.
Only down side is because the beach area at the hotel is so popular, everyone wants a sunbed in that area. All of us regulars get up early in the morning to take advantage of a swim and the cool mornings. Some nationalities think it is OK to leave their towels on the beds the night before, therefore reserving their beds for the following day. This, I might add does not go down well with the other residents that use this facility and does from time to time create some interesting discussion!!! One recommendation as far as this hotel is concerned would be to adopt the method used by other hotels in the group whereby your sunbed is allocated on arrival. Probably unlikely to happen so we will continue to get up early in the morning, best part of the day anyway.

Room Tip: Choose a side sea view room or one on the corner, much better and cheaper than a full sea view. You...

I had a two week holiday here come wedding and honeymoon & I had a fab time. The hotel staff were so friendly & couldnt do enough for you. We were a party of 8 people & everyone said they would stay here again. Rooms were clean & spaceous, there was good variety of breakfast.

Both Thomas Cook and hotel wedding planners were amazing!!!The day was perfect & completly stress free. At the end of our 2 weeks stay we didnt want to come home.

We have just returned home after getting married and spending 3 weeks at the Grecian Sands. We had a fantastic time and the wedding was everything we could have wished for. Cheradie the wedding co-ordinator was excellent, she was so helpful and had everything organised down to the last detail making our wedding day a day to remember. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, all in all it's a great hotel and we would recommend it anyone.

I have just had my first visit to the Grecian Sands and it certainly will not be the last! The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere, the staff are friendly and welcoming. My room was marvellous, a nice size with a really comfy bed and a kettle with coffee & tea; even a flat screen TV! My balcony had the most stunning sea view where i could sit and watch the sunset. The hotel is away from nightclubs but within easy walking distance to the main town and harbour and the road lined is with shops & restaurants but there is entertainment each night in the hotel lounge bar. The food is amazing with lots of choice and plently of it! The hotel has a lovely sandy area just above the main beach, with sunbeds and waiters to bring you drinks, you also get clean beach towels every day and the big swimming poll is nearby. I have had such a lovely relaxing holiday here and would gladly return.
