We spent two weeks at the dome hotel and it was amazing, I only have a couple of areas for improvements but nothing that spoilt our time away, ill mention that further down. Firstly let me start off with he amazing the staff are! The hotels best aspect, they literally can not so enough and a big mention to two of the men working behind reception were so helpful, kind, funny, great with kids and generally some of the nicest staff I've ever met anywhere! The staff working in the food hall were all extremely helpful, spoke good English, were cheerful and instantly cleaned away finished plates, glasses etc. the staff in the restaurants were all just as helpful and lovely to, particularly the staff in the Greek restaurant.
The pool areas were brilliant, I felt the children's pool was a bit slippy as both my daughters, 1 and 3 slipped several times, so we spent more time in the larger pool on the other side. The baby pool with the big slides didn't get as much sun as everywhere else so was always a bit colder, but this was fine in September once your in its fine :) . The pools were always spotless.
The food was incredible! So much choice! My children felt the need to have several different meals each night lol, the only one night we were not keen on was fish night but this is more us as a family, no reflection on the food itself. You can book to visit the hotels restaurants Japanese, Greek and Italian twice a week we went to all three and all were amazing! Big hit and one of my favourite parts of this hotel! We also had a meal on the beach as part of our wedding package, this was lovely despite having to have our 1 and 3 year old with us so not so much romantic lol but it was set up beautifully the food was stunning!
Our room, we were in the same block as reception and on level one, I had hoped for an upgrade which as part of our wedding package wa s included if possible, I have since learnt September is one of the busiest months so we weren't upgraded, I had thought September would be quiet. Needless to say our room was still nice, it was a family room for the four of us but the room was separated by a paritician, don't expect privacy with this its thin and doesn't stop any sound or movement being heard or seen, our 3 year old had the sofa bed which was uncomfortable, I thought she was moaning being silly but it was really uncomfortable so she slept with us a lot in the big bed, our 1 year old had a cot which was fine, with the cot in there is hardly any room to move though, which is absolutely fine if u don't spend any time in the room bar sleeping. It's not a major issue but for us with four of us it did mean the room got messy a lot because there was nowhere to put anything ESP as we had a lot of wedding things. The maids clean everyday and they re incredible! They do a brilliant job cleaning and are very friendly, we found the same lady cleaned ours most days she couldn't speak much English but the kids loved her! She was very nice I wish I had taken her name she deserved a lot of credit ESP with our mess of a room.
Now one criticism I have which I hate to say because we had an amazing holiday, but I want to be honest, is the kids club. It was poor, the entertainment consisted of around 4-5 reps each evening around 8oclock playing about 4 kids songs nd dancing with them the kids on stage and reps on the floor, I've been away before the the kids dance on the floor and the reps on stage this in my opinion works better but this is only my opinion. The reps didnt really get the kids involved much and didnt seem overly enthusiastic which is such a shame because the potential is there. Throughout the day there was the option to partake in kids clubs activities, on occasion a couple of reps will walk by the pool and ask every few people if they want to join in activities, when I was there for twos weeks they never asked everybody, they also didnt seem enthusiastic, I'd have liked to have joined in games but on the one occasion we said yes, no one else turned up so it was pointless. If I could improve anything it would be this, try to get the staff to be more upbeat and rally more people into activities, I've been to other hotels where some of the staff won't take no for an answer and is nice, better than no one joining in anything. The kids club on site had a small garden are with play equipment, quite old, but kept my daughters both occupied on a couple of occasions I took them to it, could be updated if funds would allow at some point, but for now it was ok.
The adult entertainment wasn't great either, which again is a real shame, we usually left not long into the entertainment due to it being boring.
The wedding itself which we had a few days into the holiday was perfect! Jenny and Angela are literally like fairy godmothers! They both are the most amazing wedding planners I could ever imagine, they deserve a huge pay rise! Lol. They really are incredible I can't even put into words.
The spa we made use of for the morning of the wedding and angeline was brilliant, we had a lady do the makeup for myself and bridesmaids to but I can't remember her name she was great to. It would have been nice to use the spa a bit more but with having the two children with us we couldn't which was a shame. There was a jacuzzi there and a sauna and steam room, you are allowed to use two a week included in the stay.
The area was fine, the hotel is almost on its own but within a minute or two walk you can get to the domes own private beach or a public one just further down with plenty of water activities on. A ten minute walk takes you to some super markets tourist shops and restaurants and pubs, the garden of Eden being one, a must to visit ESP if you have children. There isn't loads but plenty to do for a two week stay I found. A bus journey will set you back 1.50 euros and comes every 20minutes, 5 mins on the bus and your in Ayia napa, plenty to do here, we loved the harbour and the clingstones restaurant, we also went in the finding nemo boat this was brilliant! The hotel is out of the way and private but I think this is a huge pro for the dome, its peaceful and private I loved this.
On a walk one night we discovered the hotel next door had a small kids park, absolutely ideal! It would be great to re visit the dome and them to have invested in a small park for the children who visit.
The hotel provides free wifi for all inclusive guests which is a great bonus, you get the code from reception and type it into the Internet page on device, you have to do this every time u go onto the Internet which I hadn't realised at first and kept asking for new codes. The wifi is good near the pool and on our balcony, but for in our room it didn't work. It was great to have though, very much appreciated :) .
We booked through Thomas cook to stay here if we booked again we'd go direct to the hotel.
The transfer was one of the first drop off, and last collections, it took about 40mins to the airport.
Overall myself, 27, new husband, 27 and daughters, 1 and 3 had an absolutely fantastic 2 week holiday here and would return when the girls are older (we personally found the 4-5hour flight to much for our toddler and baby) this is no reflection on cyprus or the dome, just it was a bit long for their age and neither like to sit still ever, but when they are a bit older we would definitely return!
