Just returned form an 8 day Holiday at the Formosa Park.
We booked the holiday based on previous reviews - and were not disappointed!
It was just as we expected - a nice relaxing hotel surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve close to a fabulous beach!
Rooms/apartment: Huge and meticulous! We had a kitchenette and although we did not cook it was wonderful to have the full sized fridge to keep all our drinks cool in! It was nice to have so much space! The TV even had BBC, ITV & Cbeebies - I know not the most important thing on holiday - but it was relaxing to watch and to keep up with Coronation street - when our young son was in bed.
Restaurant/Breakfast: The breakfasts were good. Not the most extensive that I have had - but everything was adequate and in good supply. However, the restaurant evening food was just fabulous!! We ate there most evenings and enjoyed every dish! The kids menu was very good too!
Pool area/gardens: Very nice - nothing pretentious or stunning - but practical and clean. The main pool was of a good size as wasthe kids pool. There was also a playground which needed a little tlc - but was certainly enjoyed by my 4 year old!
The gardens had a gate which led down to the beach through a steep path through a pine fragrant nature reserve, and then across a wooden boardwalk to the glorious beach! It is a good 8-10 min trek - but well worth it! Our son managed it no problem - though it could be tricky if you had a pram!
Staff: Professional and helpful
Surrounding area: Best to have a car! We got by using a taxi - but it did add a good 25- 30 euros to every meal! Vale do Lobo had a lovely selection of restaurants and had a very upmarket feel! ...also if the hotel call a taxi for you - they add 2.5 euros everytime to your bill - we were not informed of this until we saw our bill at the end of the week!!
To summarise - a nice, friendly hotel, in a remote but beautiful location with excellent food and clean spacious apartments!
