Looking at other reviews, not quite sure what happened when we visited on 12th October but alas we had a largely terrible meal. Service was Ok which is more than can be said for the food.
We sat in the rather uninspiring garden/terrace with the long dead lemon tree and there was quite a lot of traffic noise as the garden is right on a main road.
The hot mushrooms that came with the bread were in what I can only describes as a watered down curry sauce - the sort of curry sauce you would get in an English chippy - yeuch! My starter was really the only good point about the meal - but frankly it's hard to get melon and parma ham wrong. The melon was sweet and the parma ham was really good and LOADS of it.
My partner had fish soup which the waitress had pointed out to us was without shellfish which seemed a bit odd. Soup of the day was vegetable and Paul reckoned that the 'fish sop' was merely vegetable soup with a few bits of overcooked, rubbery white fish in it. He described it as the worst fish soup he'd ever had.
He had the pork and clams for main course. It was swimming in grease and the clams had mostly come put of the shells and disappeared into the greasy quagmire. I had meatballs. They were unremarkable - bit like Ikea meatballs with a tinned tomato sauce - pretty flavourless. The rice it was served with had pepper and onion in it which was neither raw nor cooked properly, rice is not really the medium for severely al dente veg. The main course came with side dishes of fried potatoes which were OK, but had very thick slices of chorizo sausage in it which didn't add anything and did not contrast well with either main dish. There was also a dish of limp, wet looking vegetables that looked a but like ratatouille, but decidedly unappetising and as there was so much other food (huge portions) we didn't even want to try it.
A chap who I presume was the chef did walk round some of the tables. He was bypassing us when unfortunately I hiccupped. He came over and said "Oh someone's enjoying their food".He failed to notice we had finished, but left most of what we had been served. We commented "there's a lot of it". He raised his eyebrows and walked off!
Not a good experience and we would not recommend it.
