My wife and I and our 3 children (12years, 10 years and 4 months) stayed for a week at the end of August. We stayed in a ground floor 3 bed apartment on the front. I am very choosy but even I couldn't find fault with the apartment. It was very spacious and finished to an extremely high standard including all bosch electricals in the kitchen and a bosch washer and dryer in a cupboard in the house bathroom. There were 2 sony flatscreens with the largest selection of stations I have ever had in holiday accomodation including about 40 uk stations, all BBC, ITVs, all sky sports channels etc.
Each room had seperate excellent aircon. The beds were firm but we didnt have any issues with plastic sheets which other people appear to have complained about. There were en suite bathrooms to the 2 larger bedrooms. All bedroooms had fantastic showers. The apartment was cleaned top to bottom every day even the gas barbecue when we had used it. House and beach towels are provided in the apartment. We were also provided with a travel cot with clean sheets and even litttle towels for our daughter. The patio was very large with a fantastic hot tub which our older children used every day. It was also cleaned daily. There was also 4 loungers and a large outside dining table and a coffee table with 4 more comfy chairs. The lounge has pato doors which slide fully open as does the kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms, they even had seperate fitted fly screens you could close when the doors were open.
There are 3 outdoor pools (one for toddlers) and an indoor pool which was fantastic for our baby. The pools arent huge but are very clean kept the kids happy. There was no problem getting a place by the pool and most afternoons we spent on our own patio. There was a very good gym with plenty of modern equipment which was permanently staffed. We didnt use the kids club but our son did go to a football class twice which he really enjoyed. There are 2 small goals on the grass in the front were we played football and there were plenty of impromptu games amongst the kids staying at the beach club. The grounds were lovely and very well tended and very secure with high walls and security guards.
We had lunch and dinner a couple of times in the restaurant which was nice and as good as and the same price as anywhere else we ate. There was a good singer/guitarist one night. Val de lobo is 15 mis walk to the right (althought to us the restaurants in the Praca felt like Centre Parcs) and there are 4/5 restaurants within 10/15 mins walk to the left of the hotel down the beach which were much better and also Marias on the beach right in front of the hotel which was good too. We had a car and drive to Apolinia in Almancil (which is a better than average Waitrose). The Beach Club also has a small shop open 8-6 which has fresh bread, cheeses, meats, drinks, cereal, frozen foods, fruit etc so probably enough for breakfast and/or lunch and the prices were roughly the same as the supermarket.
Price was it was comparable to similar accomodation but I don't believe the competition offer the same standards.Overall it was an extremley relaxing break which we couldn't fault and perfect for us with a young baby. If you want total relaxation with great weather and extermely high spec accomodation and service then this is the place.
