“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

My wife and I and our 3 children (12years, 10 years and 4 months) stayed for a week at the end of August. We stayed in a ground floor 3 bed apartment on the front. I am very choosy but even I couldn't find fault with the apartment. It was very spacious and finished to an extremely high standard including all bosch electricals in the kitchen and a bosch washer and dryer in a cupboard in the house bathroom. There were 2 sony flatscreens with the largest selection of stations I have ever had in holiday accomodation including about 40 uk stations, all BBC, ITVs, all sky sports channels etc.

Each room had seperate excellent aircon. The beds were firm but we didnt have any issues with plastic sheets which other people appear to have complained about. There were en suite bathrooms to the 2 larger bedrooms. All bedroooms had fantastic showers. The apartment was cleaned top to bottom every day even the gas barbecue when we had used it. House and beach towels are provided in the apartment. We were also provided with a travel cot with clean sheets and even litttle towels for our daughter. The patio was very large with a fantastic hot tub which our older children used every day. It was also cleaned daily. There was also 4 loungers and a large outside dining table and a coffee table with 4 more comfy chairs. The lounge has pato doors which slide fully open as does the kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms, they even had seperate fitted fly screens you could close when the doors were open.

There are 3 outdoor pools (one for toddlers) and an indoor pool which was fantastic for our baby. The pools arent huge but are very clean kept the kids happy. There was no problem getting a place by the pool and most afternoons we spent on our own patio. There was a very good gym with plenty of modern equipment which was permanently staffed. We didnt use the kids club but our son did go to a football class twice which he really enjoyed. There are 2 small goals on the grass in the front were we played football and there were plenty of impromptu games amongst the kids staying at the beach club. The grounds were lovely and very well tended and very secure with high walls and security guards.

We had lunch and dinner a couple of times in the restaurant which was nice and as good as and the same price as anywhere else we ate. There was a good singer/guitarist one night. Val de lobo is 15 mis walk to the right (althought to us the restaurants in the Praca felt like Centre Parcs) and there are 4/5 restaurants within 10/15 mins walk to the left of the hotel down the beach which were much better and also Marias on the beach right in front of the hotel which was good too. We had a car and drive to Apolinia in Almancil (which is a better than average Waitrose). The Beach Club also has a small shop open 8-6 which has fresh bread, cheeses, meats, drinks, cereal, frozen foods, fruit etc so probably enough for breakfast and/or lunch and the prices were roughly the same as the supermarket.

Price was it was comparable to similar accomodation but I don't believe the competition offer the same standards.Overall it was an extremley relaxing break which we couldn't fault and perfect for us with a young baby. If you want total relaxation with great weather and extermely high spec accomodation and service then this is the place.

Room Tip: ground floors have hot tubs and more space for younger kids but all accomodation finished to the sam...

We first went to Dunas Douradas BC in 2009 and we've returned every year since. The first time we went we had a small baby and it is a great location for weary parents of very small children.
There is usually a bunch of parents all minding small babies either in the indoor or the toddler pool. All the pools are superb.
The accomodation itself is beautifully executed and has been maintained in excellent conditon over the years. Any problems, like a faulty lightbulb, gets a very prompt response.
We have 4 kids so finding a 3 bedroom appartment is actually hard to come by in the marketplace and even though we love DDBC we have investigated alternatives and haven't found a better alternative.
Not that this is a problem because we have had 4 memorable holidays here with great memories.

There is sky TV with the Irish channels and this believe it or not has given me many a wonderful relaxing afternoon sitting in the heat watching GAA on the TV!
The health club is good. And we got smimming lessons for the kids which were great and really stood to them.
Connection from Faro airport is straightforward and we've a direct flight there from our local airport.

Can't reccommend it more.

Room Tip: If you have small kids get an appratment on the ground floor with no steps

Lots of ants in our room but very nice hotel, lots of facilities and having (still here) a very nice time. Pools are very big and clean and the restaurant inside the hotel is very nice and no more expensive than other restaurants in Almancil and Vale do Lobo.

Booked dunas doradas on the strength of excellent reviews , and haven't been disappointed , stayed 2011 at Sheraton pine cliffs which doesn't come close to standards here , similar price ,food at club house excellent , staff service excellent accommodation 5stars . Free wi fi through out complex , excellent location over looking a lovely sandy quietish beach you can go down at 10am and have your pick of sun beds , excellent beach restaurant Maria's , 10 min walk on beach either way to more beach restaurants, this resort is the real deal and not expensive considering fabulous family holiday we had , can't wait to go back next year

We first visited The Beach Club when staying at Dunas Douradas last August (2011). The standards have not dropped at all 12 months later even though the number of customers have decreased dramatically.
The cuisine is superb, if a tad pricey for the usual family budget, and all of our dishes were cooked to perfection.
If you go along on a Sunday evening the buffett on display will meet all needs, whether you are a light eater or somebody who like to 'get their moneys worth'. Prices for the buffett are 27.50 Euros and half price for children. It is well worth a visit

I am writing this review from one of the many terraces at the apartment, overlooking the sea. We have rented a two bedroomed Jardim apartment, first floor with roof top terrace and hot tub. The resort is beautiful and waking up to a sea view every morning is a joy. There is a good mix of nationalities here, mainly Spanish and Portuguese, with a smattering of English and Irish. My two sons 12/13, have enjoyed playing football most nights, the pitch is located by the beach and my husband and I have been able to enjoy a cocktail or two at Marias beach bar which is one of the loveliest I have been to. Food at the resort is good and reasonably priced but the real joy is being able to walk up the beach to Marias, Julias, or Vale de lobo for dinner. Unlike the Sheraton Algarve, the area immediately around the resort is beautiful and accessible by foot. The sun beds around the pool are luxurious and no matter what time you turn up, there is never a problem getting four of them together. The pools are located next to each other which again, unlike the Sheraton, is a bonus as you always know where to find the children, no wandering off to another
pool half way round the resort. The gym is excellent and free, as is the Wifi. The staff here are amazing, really helpful and efficient. We found the beds and linen fine, my only criticism is no
fluffy bathrobes which other 5 star resorts provide, I'll just bring my own next time! As another reviewer said, devasted to be going home!

helpful and efficient. We found the beds and linen fine, my only critizen

Room Tip: Jardim is 5 minutes walk from the pool area although it would be preferable to be nearer I'm not...

We had a great time in DDBC the Vista Apartment was perfect. At first we thought it was too far away from pool/beach but after first day finding shortcuts it was close enough. Very safe place for small children, kids pool is a great size and indoor pool is lovely and warm. All staff are friendly and very helpful especially with children. My only down sides are the beds are way too hard, woke up with back ache every morning. For a 5* complex they really need to change the beds and bed linen as I found the beds were only 2*!

Loved the holiday and will recommend it to everyone. Will def be back soon! ...... Hopefully they have new beds tho:0)
