“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

Just back from one weeks holiday at this great hotel, Lesley the Saga rep was excellent and very helpful and informative, all hotel staff also very friendly and helpful. Everywhere spotlessly clean, bedroom spacious and well equipped, with mini fridge, TV and the easiest to operate safe I have ever come across, bathroom also spacious and supplied with toiletries. The buffet meals included a wonderful selection of foods and drinks.

A bus stop was right outside the hotel, from where you can catch buses to Athens and rest of the Island, the Hotel does have a Mini bus which runs to the two nearest villages twice a day.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2011

Bear in mind that this hotel was closing for winter in early November and the guests were all (apart from one couple with children) SAGA guests.
The hotel was welcoming, clean, staff very helpful and the all inclusive package could not be faulted. The reception area, restaurant, bar area was always very clean. Our bedroom which overlooked the outdoor pool had a balcony where we could clearly see the ferries going to the mainland and mountains on the other side. The room itself was clean and beds made every day without fail, facilities in the room included mini fridge, (FOC) safe, toileteries, flat screen TV, hairdryer, air conditioning and comfotable beds. There were spare pillows and blankets if required. All furniture was modern and there was ample space.
Facilities in the extensive gardens included children's play area, table tennis, tennis courts and two pools and gym. We did not try the outside pool (a bit too cold), and went in the indoor pool once (but the sea was warmer!).
Evening entertainment consisted of live music twice in the week, Greek folk dancing once. Lesley the SAGA rep laid on something on all other nights (bar one) and this included a quiz.
At this juncture a word about Lesley, absolutely fantastic and well organised despite the strikes.
The food and restaurant (s). All meals were buffet style apart from the Greek night. the only restaurant is on the first floor and the terrace was open to eat in (when the sun shone). In the morning breakfast consisted or bread and rolls, cold meats, sausages, baked beans, ocassional bacon, cereals, coffee (incl decafe and capacino), tea (incl lemon) and even hot chocolate. As much or as little as you wanted but could have had a bit more variation but this may be what the natives are used too! Lunch consited of Soup, salads (incl fish) and choice of 4/5 meat dishes plus a fish dish, vegetables, 3 styles of potatoes incl chips. Evening meal consisted of a varied selection of the above. Food was ample and of a good standard - you could really "pig out" if you wanted to. The restaurant was in keeping with the rest of the hotel in it's appearance and cleanliness.
The location of the hotel is on the island of Evia which is the second largest in Greece but totally unspoilt by tourism. It is about 65Km to the north of Athens and is reached via a suspension bridge. Eretria is the nearest town (of any note) even this is comparable to a large village and is about 4Km from the hotel. The hotel does lay on a courtesy bus twice a day six times a week. The beach which had a maximum of eight people on it is reached via an underpass and alleyway and some steps onto the beach so there are no roads to cross. There are some walks into the hills behind the hotel and we found a nini market (a converted living room) about 1KM or so from the hotel.
In conclusion if a resort holiday with nightlife and shopping until all hours is your ideal holiday this place is not for you however if you are after a relaxing time (as we were) you couldn't choose better. It would be interesting to visit during the high season (which we may well do in the future).

We have just returned from three wonderful weeks at the Miramare Hotel. It is very difficult to single one member of staff as they were all outstanding. The hotel was immaculate and of the highest comfort, this is a small family run hotel and it really shows. Each and every member of staff made all guests welcome and comfortable. The owners work within the hotel and are always approachable and helpful, nothing is too much trouble and it was much appreciated by us.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor overlooking the pathway into the village,it was at all times quiet.

Very pleased to find such a comfortable and well appointed hotel which was such good value. It was as good as actually staying with our friends on previous visits to Evia.
