“Not worth the 4 star rating...especially the food!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We stayed at the Binz Therme in Nov. 2012. We thought the hotel was nice but not worth the 4 stars rating. It feels like you are in a hospital. The swimming area was o.k. but just like any other "hotel pool". The salt water pool in the round room was small and you had to walk through a really cold glass hall to get to it. The whole area was like a maze. The "candle light" night was a joke really. They pipe in some music and for an hour and a half they light a few candles. Nothing romantic about it when 50-60 people are running around trying to find their way around. Main age group here at the hotel was 60+. Breakfast was so so. There was lots of variety, but the quality could be better.
The hotel is also far out of town and walking to the main part of town takes about 30 min. After walking all day, we wanted to try the restaurant. The buffet is 25 Euro a person (without drinks). We went inside to see what they had to offer and it just looked terrible!!!!! It was worse looking than the worst slop in a canteen restaurant!! We took the bus into town and ate at the Balkan Steakhouse and only paid 35 Euro with wine, starters and 2 main meals, it was so tasty!!
P.S.- They have big dispensers for soap and shampoo in the bathrooms filled with a nasty smelling eco soap and shampoo. Bring your own!

Room Tip: Ask to be far from the elevators.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

Binz is the 4:th Baltic Sea resort we are visting on our yearly summer vacation trips. As we live in Sweden, it is really easy to travel by car to Binz Therme. We just boarded the ferry to Sassnitz in Trelleborg. From Sassnitz it is about 20 min car drive to Binz.

Binz Therme is located about 30 minutes walk from Binz town centre. Between the hotel and the beach there is ~50 m of "beach forrest". There are good walkways from the hotel to the beach. There is also a nice boardwalk along the beach, to the town centre and the pier.

The hotel consists of one main building with reception, SPA, resturants, bar and a number of annexes. When we arrived everything was prepared, room cards pre-printed, all room keys made and car parking spot reserved and carbadge also prepared. The check in was made in just a minute. Nice! We had 2 double bed rooms in the main building next to each other. The rooms were spatious with good standard, good bathrooms and a lot of extra space. It should also be noted the sound insulation was excellent, making the rooms free from disturbing noise. In almost every hotel I have visited, there is always something not working in the room. This was not the case at Binz Thereme. Every detail in the two rooms worked flawlessly.

The breakfast buffet was of really high class, with excellent quality food. The pools were OK. The hotel has a special float pool. That was indeed relaxing.

If one really try to find anything bad to say, it would be that the hotel's primary customers are german speaking. All TV channels are in german, only parts of the information in the hotel is also given in english. In the reception, english is well understood, but you though need to understand and speak "travel german" to communicate with many of the others working in the hotel. Outside the hotel, on restaurants and on sites, I was surprised over the bad english language skills.

One other anoying thing, not really the hotel's fault, was that birds were sitting in the tree above my parking place. The last day the car had numerous spots (~20) of birdcrap on the windshield, roof and hood.

All in all, the four stars are well deserved and I though recommend the hotel and definitly consider to go there on vacation again.

Room Tip: I was satisfied with the rooms we got, even if there are others with balcony. I doubt if it is possi...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Binz Therme is a good hotel with a deserved four stars. What makes it special and particularly worthwhile, all year round, is the thermal spa which is part of the hotel. While the three pools are not huge and not suited for the ambitious swimmer, they do the trick for a family or single leisure stay if the intention is to use the water as an add-on to other activities during the day. A highlight in the spa certainly is the floatation pool where salt-content is high enough to allow for peaceful floating in the sizeable circular pool with a diameter of not less than 10 meters. The only thing missing for the perfect floatation experience is under water music to "drown out" the mechanical noises of the water pump or filtering systems.
The other two pools contain warm thermal water and are pleasant for relaxing and perhaps aqua gymnastics, but not suited for sportsy or ambitious swimmers.
The other highly of the hotel are the saunas, which are part of the thermal spa area. There is a good choice of several saunas with all the necessary add-ons, but nothing spectacular.
The hotel is very close to the beach, it offers nordic walking and fitness courses and is well equipped for these activities. There seem to be competent trainers for the activities.
Binz Therme also features a kids club with plenty of activities that children from 4 to 12 can involve themselves in, partially with guidance and partially without.
The breakfast buffet is great with a wide choice of offerings, from traditional to bio and luxurious.
With its location on the edge of Binz, it can serve as a great hub for visits in the town, with connection of the local "Baederbahn" or just by walking along the beach or along the road to the town center. The hotel also offers convenient shuttle service to the train station. With this and its connection to the other public transportation in the vicinity, it also serves as good departure point for various trips around the island.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building have direct access to the spa, others need to go across parking lot or th...

This Hotel incl. their 2 hot thermal pools is well worth staying in. The only "downside" is that they don't have SKYE TV, no air con and no international press can be ordered (for a 4 star superior). The buffet is not as extensive as it was 2 years ago but still very very good and all staff, incl. in the Spa, extremely nice & always helpful. Would recommend for single travellers, groups, couples & families with children as the beach is a few minutes walk away through the woods past the hotel's outdoor café/snack restaurant.
