My husband and I stayed at the Tannbergerhof for 4 days during our honeymoon in January 2007, and loved everything from the moment we set foot in the lobby. We were greeted warmly by the hotel Manager and he assured us that our table would be ready immediately for us to have dinner as we traveled a long way from the Czech Republic that day. The hotel is located literally across the street from the lift at Lech mountain and had a great bar right outside the front door where you could have schnapps or hot chocolate and take in the romantic winter scene around you. The location couldnt be better, there is a shuttle bus right down the block if you want to go to any of the other mountains to ski for the day - the hotel front desk staff is amazingly efficient at arranging everything from your ski rentals, moonlight horse-drawn carriage ride to dinner at any number of great restaurants. The rooms were comfortable, immaculate and charming in ski-lodge kind of way. Even though Lech is known as the "playground of the rich and fabulous" Princess Diana vacationed here regularly - there is a distinct lack of snobbishness here that one usually finds in the "Aspen-like" ski resorts - the people were genuinely warm, funny and friendly and we had a great time spending the evenings in the hotel bar meeting other guests. Lech is fabulous for any ski ability as there are many mountains in the area catering to all levels and is removed enough from St. Anton that you can ski and hang out there during the day and retreat to your more sophisticated (read: less noisy) hotel in Lech for an evening of gluwein and fondue by the fire. Oh yeah, the pension plan (includes breakfast and dinner) is SO worth the money - the food is amazing! We are already planning a return visit this winter!
