“Great stay at the Hotel Sandhof”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2010

My husband and I have just returned from a sking holiday in Austria and Switzerland. We stayed at the Hotel Sandhof while in Lech. This is a lovely small hotel, 5 minutes walk from the main gondola and the shuttle bus stop. The staff, especially Claudia on the front desk, were always bright, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want and the selection of fresh breads was wonderful. Dinner had a large salad buffet (this would have been sufficient for me ) and a 4 course meal. We were on a group tour that stayed at various locations so I can't comment on the comparative cost of this hotel. The only issue we had was that, being on a group tour, we were allocated a room, and we ended up in an attic room where the ceiling sloped on both sides. The room was small but spotlessly clean. However, we had to double over to walk the length of the bed as the ceiling over the whole bed and the sideboard drawers was only half the height of the normal ceiling. My husband was constantly getting out of bed and banging his head on the ceiling. Apart from this, we had a very enjoyable stay and would certainly stay there again ........... but not in the attic room !

Recently stayed at the Hotel Sandhof for four days and three evenings. Martin and the staff were exceptionally helpful. The rooms were great. I was a little concerned about the full board option when I made the reservation. It turned out excellent. The food was top notch and interacting with other guests was great. The hotel is about one block from one of the lifts and about a block from the bus stop to neighboring resorts (e.g. St. Anton). Not in the heart of town, but only a few minutes walking distance. Very charming and personal. I would recommend to anyone. My only critism was the wifi service. Even though they had an access point outside of the room, the service was spotty at best. Martin said he would look into the problem and appreciated the complaint. Based on everything else, I am sure the problem will be resolved next year when I return.

We have been going to Hotel Sandhof for 8 years. Our host, Martin, is most gracious and the total experience is very pleasurable. The dining experience is lovely, the cuisine, attentive service, and friendly atmosphere is worthy of a 5 star hotel. Lech is a first class ski destination.

Was here in March/April 2008.
I can only give praise for this hotel. It is a three star hotel with a service level and qaulity of food that is far above its rating. Take the Half Board option it is well worth it.
It a 5 minute walk from the centre where all skiis are stored and away from the noisy part so good location if you want a peaceful stay.
The cost of staying there is expensive compared to 3 star hotels elsewhere but Lech is an expensive destination. We had friends staying at a number of 4 and 5 star hotels in Lech and they were paying a great deal more not only for their rooms but also for food and wine. In terms of Lech this hotel is good value, if you want a cheap ski holiday do not go to Lech.
The staff and management of the hotel are first class with the owner always around in the evening talking to guests.
Standard rooms are small but adequate so upgrade if you want more space.
Would I go back, definately yes.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2008

Stayed here in January for a couple of days of skiing.

Hotel Sandhof is very well located with everything in a walking distance and the base of the "Schlosskopfbahn" chairlift just two minutes away. We felt very welcome when received by reception and in general staff was very friendly.

Our room had a balcony, was bright and spacious enough. However ceilings were opressingly low, furniture quite dated and lots of amenities were missing. But everything was very clean and well maintained.

The hotel has very few own parking space, so you will propbably have to put your car in the central village garage.

The wellness area of Hotel Sandhof is loacted in the basement of the hotel, looks completely new and is designed very well. Really enjoyed relaxing our bones there after a full day of skiing.

The hotel is a sound choice but nothing outstanding or special. For the hefty prices they charge in winter season I think one could expect more from the hotel...
