I've skied all over the world and stayed in some of the nicest places and this charming, ski-in, ski-out hotel ranks right near the top. We learned about this place because the year before, we stayed in another guest lodge and had lunch here. The food was so good, we decided to stay a whole week.
Let me add the food is not gourmet food. Just simple, well-made Austrian home cooking. It's not as glitzy or as flashy as a five star hotel. But what this hotel has going for it along with the food is its charming ambiance, outstanding service, beautiful rooms and its mind-blowing amazing spa.
It rained one day while we were skiing and we honestly didn't care. And that's saying a lot! I'm one of those ski nuts who never takes a day off on a ski trip, skis about 60 times a year and now professional teach skiing in Vermont.
Another added bonus: the sledding hill is only about 50 meters down hill. And there really is something magical about having to take a gondola to get to your hotel.
And while the skiing isn't the most challenging in the world, the snow is consistently great thanks to Lech's high altitude location. Reminded me a bit of more upscale version of Telluride georgraphically.
