“Million dollar view from a two dollar apartment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We recently visited this property after booking it from a third party website at the last minute. Being very particular about accommodation, the description and photographs seemed to show something that would meet our requirements and expectations for $253 per night. The experience began promisingly enough with prompt contact from the receptionist Leanne who when asked about the condition of the apartment stated it wasn't newly refurbished but was 'nice'. It seems Leanne's definition of nice is my definition of awful.

When we walked into the apartment, we were instantly struck by the magical view. Although the location of the resort is on the Noosa river, it felt like the apartment sat right on the beach. The apartment however was very tired and did not at all marry with the scenery. It smelled musty, was old and was furnished with very dusty and uncomfortable cane furniture. A single bed sat against a wall in the lounge presumably for extra seating however the wheels on the base meant it rolled away every time you sat on it. Although it was a slightly more comfortable option than the wicker armchair and sofa, we opted to use the outdoor furniture inside as it was better still.

I chose not to unpack the suitcase because I thought our clothes would smell if I stored them in the closets. The bedspreads were stained on the undersides and clearly had not been laundered for a long time. The kitchen was old but functional. Crockery was mismatched, cookware included a burned teflon frypan and the kettle smelled like curry. The fridge alcove blocked 30% of the view from the kitchen.

The single bathroom needed work. The shower was small as was the bath tub which with its rusty green drain was not inviting enough to bathe my son in. There was grime around the hand basin, there weren't enough towel rails and no face washers were provided.

There is only one small television in the lounge. No TV in the main bedroom (just a very old and dirty clock radio that I felt compelled to store during our stay). A second TV helps when you have kids or when you want to lie in bed and watch tv instead of sitting on back breaking furniture.

Although most displeased with the unit allocated to us, we liked the view and location enough to request a move to a three bedroom apartment (we would happily have paid more for a larger and newer apartment) yet were told none were available even though booking.com and the resort's own website showed otherwise. Leanne said that as the booking was made through a third party booking site, she could not relocate us to another apartment. I find this technically impossible but I just didn't want to spoil our holiday by arguing the point. Perhaps Managers don't want to have to explain to owners why guests chose not to stay in their apartment so it's just easier to tell guests there is no other option. Once you've checked in and paid for your stay in advance as they demand, they have you over a barrel. You either stay or lose your money.

"We trust that you enjoy your stay" says the welcome note in the apartment. It should read "We hope you enjoy your stay given the old age, smell and uncleanliness of the apartment".

On the upside, the location was good. About a 5 minute drive to major shops and Hastings St. The resort provides free wifi (although there were plenty of drop-outs) and the pool is nice but once there's six or so people in it, it feels crowded. Sauna and secure undercover parking are also good.

We won't be returning here but if you choose to stay here do, as Leanne suggested, contact the resort first to discuss the condition of the apartments available and perhaps even request photos before choosing one. There are a couple of other resorts in the same locations that look far better and have a better reputation that I would consider if returning to Noosa. We definitely paid over the odds for this at over $250 per night. It was VERY disappointing.

After having very disappointing accommodation in Mooloolaba we recently drove up to Noosa to look for somewhere for our next holiday. We popped into a few resorts in Noosa both on Hastings street and Noosa shores then we found this little gem. Leanne on reception was just lovely and so helpful, she showed us the photo book of all the rooms which clearly advises whats in each of the rooms, when the rooms were renovated etc. The resort was currently booked out the day we popped in so couldn't go inside any room (but as all the photos were current that wasn't a problem) but we could see the room we wanted from the outside and when walking round the resort we loved what we saw. Absolutely beautiful, stunning location and handy to everything. We have now booked to stay next year for a week...the hardest part for us will be waiting till then! But I can't thank Leanne enough for her fabulous customer service, she went out of her way to help us and was very genuine in her willingness to help us. In my book that goes a long way. Can't wait for our stay at Noosa Harbour Resort next September!....My poor husband is going to have to put up with me counting down the days till we get there! :)

Noosa Harbour Resort is located about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Noosa. It is a condominium complex on the Noosa River and has a small sandy beach, a good sized pool, spa, BBQ area with 3 BBQs (only 1 worked while we were there), a small tennis court, secure underground parking, and an office that has many brochures for Noosa and the surrounding area as well as staff that are friendly and helpful.

The central area (where the pool and BBQ are located) is quite secluded with very nicely designed gardens with nice paths, little gazebos for dining and lights that make the whole area look really pretty at night.

We started out in unit 16, which was a 1 bedroom apartment, with a living room/dining room/kitchen combination that had a dishwasher, full fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, good selection of dishes, pots/pans and cutlery, a large flat screen TV, AC in the living room, fans in living room and bedroom, and lots of seating. The bathroom had a shower/tub and washer dryer.

After the first night we complained about noise because of screaming children in the next apartment (unit 15) and we were moved to unit 68. Unfortunately we had to pay extra for the new unit since it was a bit better. We didn't feel this was really fair since we were not the source of the problem but it was worth the additional expense not to be woken at 7am by continuous screams. We also thought it was unfair to the owners of unit 16 since they would lose on the rental income after we moved. Perhaps the people in unit 15 should have been fined.

On the second night we had no TV reception but building management was very responsive and had a broken part repaired the next day.

You can walk to the centre of Noosa (Hastings St), in about 20 minutes. You can drive to a major shopping centre (includes a large grocery store) in about 10 minutes and also to the National Park in 10 minutes. There is a corner convenience store almost next to the complex which sells a limited amount of food at elevated prices).

All in all this is a very nice complex and it is located in an area that provides easy access to central Noosa as well as to other local attractions.

Room Tip: Beware and ask for a unit away from noise when booking.

We have recently returned from a trip to Australia and were very impressed with Noosa Harbour Resort. We found the staff most pleasant and very helpful in recommending local activities and amenities. The apartment we were in was absolutely lovely, very modern with tasteful decor and very well equipped with everything we needed. The view of the river was spectacular and quite simply unforgettable. The gardens were very well maintained, there is a lovely pool and plenty of loungers to relax around the BBQ areas which were always pristine. There is an excellent place to eat just minutes from the Resort and it was a short walk to Hastings Street. We would certainly return to Noosa Harbour Resort and recommend it to anyone lucky enough to be travelling to beautiful Noosa.

We travelled to Noosa Harbour Resort with our two teenage daughters and were thrilled to have good weather and a riverside apartment (Unit 35). We agree the apartment is tired, but apart from a filthy bedspread in the main bedroom, the unit was clean and comfortable. It's not 4 star but we felt quite relaxed meeting friends by the pool and having family barb-b-ques. On one of these occasions, at about 6pm, our daughter locked both sets of keys in the room. I knocked on the managers door, terribly apologetic and asked if they could let us into our apartment. Both the man (and woman who let us back in) were the rudest people I have ever encountered and we have travelled alot. It appears by this forum that the management is driving clients away! Noosa Harbour Resort deserves better!

We booked multiple apartments for friends and family travelling to Noosa for a wedding. The resort is lovely, particularly the pool and barbeque area. The rooms, however, were VERY hit and miss. Ground floor apartments are actually sub-ground, so your view consists of either a concrete wall or a car park. We also had comments from our friends that some of the apartments were very old, leaking and many had faulty toilets, dryers or other faults. As for the management, the owners really should be concerned. One example of this was when a group of three family members checking in were rudely told to pay attention because the woman at the desk would not be giving instructions on how the key system worked more than once.

This resort has the potential to be much better than it is. I would recommend people be very wary in booking here. Demand a top floor apartment and keep records of any correspondence if you do book.
