“Fabulous stay at Lake Weyba Cottages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2008

My husband and I enjoyed a two night weekend stay in the Honeymoon cottage at Lake Weyba recently for our 18th Wedding anniversary. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We were looking for a combination of a relaxing bush location but close to the beach and some markets. Lake Weyba cottages was perfect. The cabin was luxuriously appointed with a georgeous four poster bed, sunken spa bath and a log fire. We opted for the breakfast tray each morning a thoroughly enjoyed preparing our BBQ on the deck each morning. There was enough food on our tray to keep us going until mid afternoon! No need for lunch. We went to the Eumundi markets and enjoyed the busy atmosphere and then stopped for late afternoon drinks at the Coolum surf club - great view!

Lake Weyba Cottages is in a stunning location and it's beautiful to walk around the edge of the lake and enjoy the wildlife that abounds. We were surrounded by kangaroos morning and afternoon, found tree frogs at night, and spotted the rays in the lake.

If you're after a luxury, romantic, peaceful getaway then this is your place.

We'll be back.

I can only agree with everything other reviewers say about Weyba. It's positively idyllic. We spent 6 very relaxing and enjoyable days at Weyba Cottages last October. An excellent choice.

A cottage for two overlooking a lagoon and a lake ... a perfect getaway (without the kids) for our wedding anniversary. Even living in Australia, it was a treat to be greeted by a family of kangaroos on the grass outside the cottage.

The cottage is well-equipped for two, with Queen Bed (with mosquito net), small kitchen & bathroom, and a corner spa bath with views. Breakfast is provided on a platter in the fridge for the following day - we had fun barbecuing our first breakfast while the local birds eyed up the feast. On arrival we were also provided with a bottle of wine, chocolates and home-made treats. The cottages have canoes and mountain bikes for exploring the lake and its surrounds.

The staff member who greeted us had some great recommendations for local places to eat. "Harvest" at Coolum was fantastic for our Friday night dinner, as was "Season" in Noosa on Saturday. We really were spoilt for choice for places to eat - lunch at the local Baked Poetry Cafe in Peregian was perfect.

We would highly recommend Lake Weyba Cottages to anyone wanting to get away from the madness of Noosa while enjoying all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

  • Liked — The peace & quiet, and being able to canoe for hours on the lake
  • Disliked — The hammock - it tipped us both out!

If your have a desire to get away from it all and relax in a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city and busy beachside resort towns, then this is the perfect solution.
If the warm, inviting, self contained cottages with spa, fireplace, digital entertainment system, airconditioning, overhead fan, plenty of towels and welcoming wine, truffles, antipasto platter and fresh flowers without aren't what you are looking for, then perhaps the deck with great little gas barbeque, hammock and views of ponds, lake and wildlife might make up for it!

This place is gorgeous with fantastic attention to detail.
Every little thing you think you might need during your stay they had. There was the oil for the barbeque, papertowels, wine cooler, salt and pepper grinders, candles for the dinner table and also by the bath, the mosquito coil and mosquito rid lotion, the bathrobes, bath floor mats for both the shower and the bath, travel and house magazines, the little thankyou gift of handmade soaps and a handwritten card and even the Sunday paper delivered to your door.
For those that drink tea and coffee there was a jar of teabags in the cupboard, fresh coffee in the fridge along with a full 1 L bottle of milk. The only thing they were really missing was a jug of chilled water or the option to buy bottled water --the water is completely drinkable and safe but if you are not used to slightly earthy tasting, fresh rain water then you may prefer the bottled alternative. We passed this feedback onto the fantastic owners who by the sounds of it will be implementing this solution as we speak. Ensuring that their guests have everything they need to have a truely memorable stay seems to be of upmost importance to them.

We were pretty excited to spot a couple of kangaroos on our way back from reception with our armful of borrowed CD's, DVD's and good old fashioned games--all of which are accessible at any time.
I ended up trying to creep up on them, around the other cottages to try and get some dusk photos. However had I known that we were going to wake to about 8 kangaroos grazing on the property, within view of all the cottages, I would've probably would have just waited. Throughout our stay we saw ducks, geese, a very large lizard, tiny, tiny little frogs and all manner of insect and birdlife taking advantage of their tropical playground.
Well we didn't end up watching the DVDs and instead after a barbeque and wine (we had brought our own ingredients, but they do offer well priced barbeque packs or a even a gourmet chef to cook a 3 course meal) we took advantage of the peace and quiet that this sanctuary brings with it and fell asleep very early. Bliss!
The traditional breakfast to cook on the barbeque, orange juice and the Sunday paper was a great finale to a great getaway.

If you want true R& R with everything laid on then this place is for you--you can swim in the fresh water swimming hole, take the canoes out on the lake, explore with the bikes, read, play games, watch DVD's on the decent size LCD screen, arrange for a masseuse to drop by, or if you really want to leave this wonderful place, Peregian beach is only 5-10 minutes away by car.
We were only there for a night but next time would like to return for 2-3 nights to really take advantage of this oasis on the Sunshine Coast. We will also be highly recommending Lake Weyba Cottages to all our friends and family!

Lake Weyba cottages certainly won't disappoint. My husband and I stayed for a week in perfect-weather May and lapped up the privacy and tranquility.

I agree 100% with the other reviewers. The only thing to add is that this venue is not really a Noosa holiday - if you want to spend time in Noosa you will need a car.

We preferred to go to the sleepy town of nearby Perigian (the beaches are much quieter and expansive) and the lovely German bakery there does great coffee.

Of course, it was hard to find a reason to leave our lovely cottage and grounds.

  • Disliked — Couldn't really swim in the natural lagoon

This is a very relaxing and unique place to spend a few days (we spent 4 days here). The location of these cottages are at the south end of Lake Weyba, and it really does feel in the middle of nowhere, although Noosa and the other costal resorts are still only 10 mins drive away.

On arrival down the long, attractive drive, you check in at the main building on stilts. You then take a short drive to your own cottage. There are about 9 in all, all detached and about 40 metres apart, with each one given extra privacy from surrounding trees.

The cottages themselves each look out onto the well tended and vey attractive grounds of the property, although we were slightly dissapointed that they weren't directly on lake Weba itself (this is about 100 metres away, so no big deal).

Each cottage has it's own veranda (east facing so loads of morning sun) with BBQ and seating area, a great kitchen area, an excellent premium LCD TV/DVD setup, a very comfortable King bed, and a lovely, deep and huge corner bath that has surrounding windows overlooking the grounds. It really is a great place to chill out, offering almost total privacy and 5 star comfort in the middle of nature. There is also a seperate shower room and toilet.

To make things even better, each morning you are personaly delivered a choice of breakfast, which is just fantastic. On the first day, we also got a tray of tapas in our fridge, and a complementary bottle of wine. You can also take your pick of several board games, books or DVDs from the main office, or take one of the free boats or fishing rods out to lake weyba, or borrow some mountain bikes off them.

There's no mains water, so they use rainwater collected from the roof (topped up by imported water during drought times so you won't run dry!). This is fine, it's triple filtered, but it does sometimes look slightly tannin (like the weakest tea you'll ever see) due to some of the overghanging trees.

I can't really find any real faults with this place. If you want to stay within walking distance of any of Noosa's bars etc, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for total relaxation and privacy for a few days, you'll love it.

  • Liked — The 5 star comfort whilst being in the middle of nature
  • Disliked — The slightly tannin rainwater (although it's not a problem!)

My Husband and I stayed here for 3 wonderful nights.
The cottages were absolutely lovely, private and with a great corner spa!

The hosts were wonderful in every way and there when we needed them.
We loved the freshwater pool and canoeing in the lake (canoes were provided for free).

Each morning we woke to a gorgeous breakfast platter which was more than ample it was the most wonderful way to spend the mornings having breakfast on the verandah with a few very colourful cheeky birds nearby hoping for some crumbs.

In the afternoons we'd often spot a group of Kangaroos bouncing through the property.

Truly a great place to stay and very reasonably priced.

Our only regret is that we haven't been able to go back as yet, but you can count on it being the only place we stay the next time we make it to Noosa.
