“Good place for a reunion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

Stayed for a 30 yr graduation reunion. A little hard to find and certainly not that close to the beach. Very well appointed appartments with good facilities and extremely restful surroundings. Liked the use of australian materials and the breakfast and conference ares were spacious and relaxing. A fair walk down hill to Noosa itself but there is a complimentary car lift back if your timing is good. Food at the conference was the only real disappointment and lacked variety. Breakfast was good. Overall a really nice experience

The staff were lovely and definately went out of their way but I found staying at this apartment complex was more suited for a large family or business trip. This hotel was not for couples, it is a massive apartment complex and the 2 pools are very small for such an establishment. The Spa retreat was lovely. The downfall was that you have to walk quite a distance to get out of the complex before you get to the beginning of Hastings Street. The rooms dont have a view but they are new and clean.

Dear Bijou_8, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay with us for which I appreciate your comments. Whilst the resort is some 500 metres to Hastings Street, golf buggies are available with the Concierge Team to shuttle guests. Again, thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Noosa. Kindest regards, Alex Chapman, General Manager.

Firstly, we were impressed with the service straight off when the resort happily delayed our booking when my wife came down with a bad flu.

We stayed for a long weekend, and were unlucky enough to encounter a lot of rain. That meant we were confined to the resort for a fair bit of the time. However, there was nothing wrong with that because the resort was great! We had a standard 1-bed apartment overlooking the rainforest which was just lovely. The rooms on the other side of this complex looked at the road and resort restaurant which would not have been so great. The room had all the amenities you could want, a nice double shower, and good sized outdoor area.

Each morning we hit the resort lap pool before going down to the included breakfast, which was excellent. I normally avoid hotel breakfasts as they're often so overpriced and average, but this was included in the package and the buffet had just about anything you could want. The chilli was fantastic! We also dined at the resort restaurant our first night there and were very satisfied with the quality and price of the food (dinner special $20 for a main plus wine/beer). Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. But then, we were two of only four in the restaurant.

I also availed myself of the resort's steam room and resort pool, which were both great. My wife had one of the spa treatments and was very pleased with the experience. There's a gym, a games room, and a theatrette but we didn't get around to using any of those.

If I had to come up with a few minor negatives and/or suggestions:
- noise from the adjacent rooms was noticeable (certainly not enough to bother us)
- grout in the shower could do with some cleaning (otherwise very clean though!)
- it is a fair hike to the beach, so don't expect to be coming and going from the beach/hastings st all of the time
- pillow options for those of us who prefer a firm pillow (eg. my wife) would be great
- some packets of hot chocolate included with the complimentary tea would go down a treat

Overall we loved our stay at the resort, and would definitely go back.

Arrived one day earlier than we had booked and were offered the option of an extra night at the 'discount price' that we originally received or the option to move the booking forward by one day. Our ground floor room was new, very spacious and extremely well equipped - but the curtains need to be closed at night for privacy and in early morning when in PJs..
The pool and gym facilities were excellent but may be busy when Resort busy in high season. All staff were very friendly and helpful. But to us the value was exceptional and the main reason for us booking as we took a chance and received the benefit of a 'mystery booking' on a last-minute accommodation booking website.

Room Tip: Look at last-minute websites and also ask for room above ground level for privacy and to get morning...

The room we had was nice but looked directly onto the hotel driveway and got sun for barely 2hours a day. The alternative rooms offered were no better. The room was not cleaned to 5star standard each day. Poor value and we moved to another hotel.

A really nice hotel in a great locations. Housekeeping could be improved as the toilet seat was broken upon arrival but fixed very quickly once notified. The only downside was the gathering of smokers outside the main reception area that you had to pass to go inside despite it being a non smoking area. It certainly pays to going into Noosa's main street to eat as the price and service was brilliant!

We are Brisbane residents and regular visitors to Noosa. We booked a room at this resort earlier this year. The rooms are very nice; clean, well kept and well provisioned. The outlook from our room was, however, appalling. We were on a corner, which was nice because we had a view down to the sea. However we also looked directly down onto the road (as do many, many of the rooms) that runs through the resort. In addition, we also looked directly into the rooms opposite.
We were just thankful that we were up a floor however, the people on the lower levels had balconies and windows that looked directly into the road. As you walked along the road to get around the resort you could look into their rooms. I would have been furious had I had such a room.
The pool is absolutely miniscule at this resort. When we were there it was almost impossible to get a lounger. Each day I would end up sitting by the pool on a bar stool, waiting for a lounger to come free whilst my children sat on the concrete. It was very irritating to say the least. Many families ended up doing the same, why such bad design to build a tiny pool for a resort with so many rooms?

Breakfast was at The View on Little Hastings, the hotel's main restaurant. A couple of things about this. The food was fine, not great, but the name makes it sound like it is towards Little Hasting St or in the centre of Noosa, it isn't! It is in the middle of the resort which is a GOOD (15-20 minnutes) walk up a long hill from the centre of Noosa. Secondly, they have set the dining section of the restaurant at the back of this building, so you can't see the view! There is a fabulous view if you walk to the front of the room, it's just that you can' t really see it when you are eating because you are about 15-20m back from the window. Why? Seem like very bad design to me.
Design is the other thing that I dislike immensely about this resort. Rather than being sympathetic to it's Noosa location, it has a very municipal feel. It looks like a 1960s concrete monstrosity, very odd. They have also really squeezed the site, putting as many rooms into the space as possible which means the privacy of the rooms (other than the villas) is horrible. It reminds me slightly of university Halls of residence or similar. Not pretty!
As a family we usually stay at The Sebel. The rooms are definitely smarter at the Outrigger being just open, but I still prefer the Sebel by a mile. For a start, Outrigger Little Hastings st, despite the name is a long way from Hastings St. If you have children, or older people in your group, forget about walking it. You can catch a golf buggy down and then call one to come down and pick you up on the way back, but it is time consuming and stressful when several families have called late at night and have to wait and work out who should go back first whilst the others wait.
If you haven't been to Noosa before and don't mind being a long way from Hastings St, maybe this won't bother you. My family like to nip to the beach for an hour, or head out for a quick coffee on Hastings st, which was just too much of an ordeal here. Not to mention the time we all got to a restaurant on Hastings st and realised we'd forgotten something. Cue a 35 minute round trip by my husband to retrieve it.

All in all there are much better options in Noosa.
