“Wonderful stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2010

A very enjoyable farmstay. The cottage is clean. The facilities are complete. The tractor ride in the morning was especially fun for our boy in the morning. He had great fun feeding the animals and running after the friendly pet dog of the owners. It was a great way to start the day and onward to other attractions. The location was great too, which is only 5 mins drive from the town for groceries. Would love to go again!

What a great find. Left our long weekend accommodation search too late and had very few options to choose from. Lucky for us, a last minute cancellation, saw us living the farm life at PUMP HILL FARM STAY. Our 11 and 9 year olds LOVED the place. And it was a rare treat to feel comfortable letting the kids go off to explore, knowing that the whole place was filled with families and kids. Farmer Dan and his wife were very friendly and gold star hosts. The morning tractor ride and animal feeding a highlight. All we had to do was pack our food, explore the beautiful south west, and enjoy all the delights of Pemberton and its surrounds.

We stayed for 2 nights in November and loved the little chalets and especially the open fire (as the weather hadn't warmed up yet!). Great wildlife and birds to watch and the owners were incredibly friendly. Our 2 year old son loved the morning tractor ride to feed the animals - living in Hong Kong it was a great new experience for him and he saw his first Roo. Being allowed to cook up the fresh eggs was a nice touch!

This was a short but sweet holiday. We only had three nights and wished we'd had more time. The farmstay is brilliant. The cottages are very well equipped. The one we stayed in (Grevillea) even had a private garden facing onto the donkey's field and the forest. The inside of the cottage was well appointed with modern, comfortable leather sofa's. Kitchen had everything you needed and they also provided tea coffee etc. Beds were comfortable. Outside there is an outdoor setting and BBQ.

For the Kids: The highlight for the kids was the daily morning hayride, takes just over an hour and the kids get to feed the cows, donkeys, ducks, goats, sheep, and chickens. They even get to go and collect the eggs and then have one to take away for their breakfast. My daughter (6) loved this. In addition there is a really nice touch in the cottages, there is a folder for kids to draw a picture of their stay there and leave for all the people still to come. My daughter loved looking at what all the other kids had drawn and written about and added hers to the rest. There is a DVD player and movies can be rented from the office. There are three channels on the tv.

Pemberton is very nice, although we had a hit and miss experience for dinner at the local hotel/motel. The tram ride was good fun and very informative. We had Chinese takeaway the second night, mainly because two of the restaurents we wanted to go to were only open for lunch! I would recommend eating your main meal at lunch instead there will be alot more choice that way, as alot of places close earlier than we expected.

On our first day we had a very late start but still managed to do the tramride and the Gloucester Tree. Please note this is NOT suitable for children to climb. On our second day we drove down to Walpole and did the treetop walk which is perfect for children. The great thing there was you got to go round it as many times as you could manage.

During our drive down we noticed how fantastic all the local play parks were for children. Most notable was the one in Donnybrook. If you are driving down from Perth with young children we would reccommend you stop here and take the kids on the park, one of the houses opposite sells icecreams which were yummy.

We were looking for the perfect farm holiday and felt that we found it at Pump Hill Farm Cottages.

The location is very central to Pemberton town, yet far enough to still feel like you're away on a farm. The cottage itself was comfortable and offered great views (either of the paddock with the forest in the background or of the rolling hills). The living room was spacious and the bedrooms were cosy. Our only ask would be for a nice thick doona during the winter months - coming from Malaysia we found the blankets not sufficient esp. when the fire in the fireplace went out by the time we got up in the morning.

As our visit was in winter, we had to quickly get used to prepare our own fire in the fireplace. There is no other heating alternative but once you get the fire going it is the best way to keep warm.

The farm animals itself was the highlight of our stay, especially for the children. They were continously feeding the animals (esp. the donkeys that were in the paddock opposite of the cottage) that every morning the donkeys would be waiting by the fence of the cottage for their feed! All the other animals (chicken, goats, sheep, cows and duck) were also a source of endless fun for our children.

The longer we stayed (total 1 week), the more we enjoyed being at Pump Hill Farm, which meant by the end of the stay, we were really sad to leave.

Would love to come back!

Our recent trip to the South West was made all the more special by our stay at Pump Hill.

The views over the valley were wonderful, the animals were great - especially the goats which were very entertaining! The hay ride was a great start to the morning and a way to meet all of the animals.

The cottage we stayed in was spotless and very comfortable with all of the facilities you need and the owners knowledge of where to go and what to see made planning our time all the easier - although my legs are still aching from climbing the Glouster tree.

A really wonderful place to visit and unwind as a couple or with children!

We stayed 4 nights in the wooden chalet for 2. It was just idyllic. We could have done with this restful and relaxing stay at the end of our 8 week world trip rather than at the beginning. It was utterly delightful, the views superb and the animals captivating. The local native birds were awesome, especially the rosellas and above all the splendid fairy wrens. The experience of the wood-burning fire was wonderful - almost too hot sometimes.

We hope we can return again one day. The memories of our stay here have lingered beyond all the other places we stayed in afterwards and our thoughts keep going back to the wonderful time we spent on our far too short a visit.

Thank you to Lucy and her family for helping to make our whole holiday so memorable.
