“Simply, charming in a lovely part of a very big state”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Millhouse Cafe in Pemberton, Western Australia has a lovely veranda where you can sit and eat your meal. Just take a sweater or jumper. After all this IS Pemberton, and its often cool; even in summer.

And so it was for our visit.

The food for our lunch was simple but fresh. For me a tasty fish burger and for my wife and cousin, toasted sandwiches with chicken, basil and aioli. A coffee plus two well-made smoothies made the visit worthwhile.

The meals were well priced and the service friendly, even if they did forget to make my wife's coffee. A minor slip-up that was corrected with an apology and a smile.

Millhouse Cafe is not a five star restaurant. It doesn't pretend to be. But for a nice breakfast or light lunch it is worth a visit....and remember the jumper.

“Great Choice for Marron Lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We arrived just after noon during school holidays in the middle of the recent WA heatwave. The cafe A/C was put to the test but it seemed to cope OK despite constantly opening doors with frequent new customers and was a welcome relief from the heat. The Cafe was almost full of diners and seems very popular with both locals and travellers. We ordered the marron blackboard special at the counter and when it was delivered to the table we surprised to find very generous servings, the marron was terrific and we were glad we stopped at Pemberton for lunch. There is a good menu, the cafe is well presented and has a nice ambience, the service was very good, prices very reasonable, and most importantly the food is good. For travellers, the toilets are clean.

“Gourmet Breakfast and Great Burgers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We arrived in Pemberton at 7.30am on a Wednesday (from Bunbury) and expected to be able to get some breakfast from the bakery and were surprised to find it closed (don't bakeries usually open early?). The only place open was Millhouse Cafe, and luckily for us we had a very nice meal.
Rather than the breakfast menu, which has some lovely gourmet options, we chose to have the 'Millhouse Burger' ($10) which was delicious, a big thick tasty burger patty with salad and a very fresh bread roll. Hubby chose to add bacon, egg and cheese. Our drink of choice was a chocolate milkshake which was icy cold and did not disappoint.
Although it is a bit expensive, this is to be expected in country WA, but the atmosphere and modern menu makes up for this.
There is some impressive art work to brouse for sale, plenty of travel brochures, magazines and books to keep you occupied until your meal arrives and lounge seating, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes, and I found myself still engrosed with all there was to see and read when our meals arrived.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, I wasn't sure if we could order a burger for breakfast, and when I asked if this was possible, the answer was 'of course!' - this is typical country WA hospitality.

“Leaves you with a great feeling about Pemberton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Looking for a coffee @ 7am. Millhouse opened at 7.30am however the door was open and the Lady was outside having her cup of tea. She couldn't have been more helpful. No probs that it was 7am & and coffee was great - hot and not burnt! Great start to the day !
