“Great location, average rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

We stayed in a family apartment. Beds were comfortable. Only 1 bathroom but decent size. Couch in living room was awful and hurt your back to sit on it. Cups in cupboard were dirty but everything else was very clean. Some of the power wasn't working but staff fixed it quickly. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Great food in restaurant. Brilliant location. It's probably about a 3 star overall.

We didn't stay here but had lunch here during our recent visit to Busselton. I like the idea of a free salad bar with every meal over $19.95 (if I remember correctly). The salad bar had coleslaw, potato salad, green vege mix, beans, beetroot salad, pasta and grilled vege salad and some other items. I had the seafood platter which was ok but would be nice to have some tartare sauce to go with it. Plenty of chips though! My partner had a grilled fish and mash.

Basically it's pretty functional food and family friendly.

Last minute and had no where to stay.. 8.00pm at night staff were fantastic, got manager and he offered me either a budget or deluxe room. Budget was smallish with own ensuite. Very comfy bed, clean and cosy. For $70 bucks for the night couldnt go wrong. Compared to travelling in Europe with the tiny, grotty rooms which say their 3 star and double the price...The Esplanade was great. Ordered a steak in restaurant.. cooked to perfection. Staff were very friendly and obliging.. Wireless internet available with passcode.. Breaky following morning cheapest and best country pub breaky I've had for years.

Room Tip: Budget means clean but basic, if you want something a little more special go for the deluxe

Stayed in a budget room for 2 nights and it was not good at all. The rooms and decor are really really old. And the bathroom and room were really dirty! Stains on the carpet, stains on the benches, bathrooms are filthy. Noisy rooms too, can hear the people next door. Anyway there was a few good thing about this place. I will jot them down in a pros/cons list.

Pros:
Great location, close to bussleton foreshore.
There is a great pub and TAB next door.
Foxtel in the rooms.
Beds and pillows are comfortable.
Friendly staff at reception.

Cons:
Filthy bathrooms.
Dirty rooms.
Old decor and furnishings.
Old style box TV with fuzzy picture.
No exhaust fan in bathroom.
Rooms smell musty.
Saw a mouse outside my room.
Waited over a hour for food at the restaraunt and manager was rude about it.
Can hear everything in rooms next door.

All in all I probably wouldn't stay here again, Bussleton is full of great accomodation and I would be keen to try somewhere nicer on my next visit.

The Esplanade Hotel is very well located just a short stroll from Busselton's lovely beaches. That is the good news......

The not so good news is the rooms that were very tired and also quite noisy.

The room also had an air conditioner that needs to be replaced and a TV remote controller that also was dysfunctional. Sadly the bathroom also seemed , musty or dank, and the furnishings were outdated.

For just one night, well it was just OK, but when you consider hotels in Western Australia are amongst the most expensive in the world, and this hotel's rate was equal to what we pay in Lake Como, Italy, then perhaps we should expect better?

Perhaps, just sleep on the beach and enjoy the breeze?

I am currently staying here. Be aware that you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms! The one next to our is currently playing techno an the sound is just as loud in our room! Wi-fi will not work in all rooms just a few close to the reception. We were told this was a nice hotel by the lady at the tourist information. It is a dirty motel. Bathroom is not very nice and the motel over all is VERY old. Also too expensive for this level!!!

My husband and I arrived in Busselton (without accommodation due to getting our dates wrong) late on Friday night between Christmas and New Year. Everywhere we went had the "no vacancy" sign out. We stopped in at the Esplanade Hotel, which was also full, and the manager/owner Glennys kindly offered us a bed in a function room which we gratefully accepted! After a delicious meal in the dining room she took us up to our "suite" into which the staff had moved a king bed with crisp linens, towels and soap. It was the best night of our trip due to the service and kindness afforded us by Glennys and her staff.....she even came and checked on us and chatted about holidaying in WA. We won't stay anywhere else when in Busselton again.
