“Sensational Service, Lovely place in the Forest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

An impromptu weekend away to Margaret River area with a visiting girlfriend. We found a deal at Inn the Tuarts. Suzanne and Peter are FABULOUS hosts. Suzanne emailed details to make sure we could find the place easily, with warnings to watch out for roos on the road. Thoughtful and caring service! Delightful setting with forest views, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and BBQ facilities. The cooked breakfast was spectacular and raised the bar on the idea of BnB. This is more like a small and private resort. This is definitely on the "will return" list.

Sensational review, too, SuskiQ! Thank you. It is really good to get such great feedback and acknowledgement of the extra facilities and things we do to add to our guests' enjoyment and experience whilst staying here Inn the Tuart forest and in this beautiful Margaret River wine region. Sometimes we find it a bit challenging to get our message across and of course when we say it (in any form of advertising or marketing) it sounds just like that - advertising or marketing. But when our lovely guests, like you, say it, I think it is much more believable. We went out to a good local restaurant for breakfast not long ago and had all the same sort of courses as we offer here; you know, juice, cereals and fruit, cooked main course, toast and tea/coffee. It costs us over $80! And it wasn't as good as Suzanne's (but then not much is. All right, all right, I admit to a tiny bit of bias) Being a bit more than a B & B and not a big resort does challenge us to get our message out there, but your review certainly helps. Many thanks again, and we look forward your "will return"
All the best from Busselton

In many endeavors, you are 'in the zone' or 'in the flow' when time slows and all things become clear and effortless. In the zone, you operate with a sense of peace and comfort and easy concentration. The tall Tuarts, the Western Australian countryside and the hosts Peter and Suzanne invite you to enter an easier way of doing and enjoying. These folks, the comfortable and well appointed accommodation, and the great breakfast make it easy to choose the Busselton area for a getaway weekend. We certainly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return.

Bruce A, I'm in the zone to thank you for your great and original review. Love the picture, too, it really shows off the huge Tuart trees, and that we are definitely Inn the Tuarts! You are right, there really is something special about this place, and we often see it reflected in the change that comes over guests after they've been here for a few days. You're right about something else as well, and that is Busselton, which is really coming into its own as the ideal getaway. Just 2 hours down the road, millions spent on streetscape, bike tracks, foreshore upgrades and more. It is just right in the zone for a getaway recharge - weekend or longer. We also, can't wait for your return.
Kind regards,
Suzanne and Pete

My husband and I, together with 8 friends enjoyed 2 nights here. Very comfortable, clean and modern. We had a studio room which was lovely. I have to agree with AustraliaFox that the walls were a bit thin, as we could hear our friends in the next room, when they used the bathroom, and could also hear their tv, tho it was a muted sound and did not worry us.If your neighbours had the tv quite loud it would be annoying. The setting is beautiful and it has very good amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooked breakfasts and thought the choice of breakfasts very good.

Hello again, Gaye and thanks heaps for your 5 dot review. We are delighted that you and your group of friends enjoyed your stay. It is perfect for friends to get together in a private lodge with all our spacious guest areas and facilities, to enjoy each other’s company. We certainly enjoyed hosting your stay and meeting you all.

We believe that it is our location here in the Tuart forest, tranquil and quiet that really sets us apart from most of the other accommodation in Busselton. Often all you can hear is the birdsong and the wind in the trees. But this seems to come with a catch. There is no background traffic noise! So sometimes, it is so quiet that you can hear a pin drop... in Yallingup! Many of our guests have commented how quiet and peaceful it is here.

We have stayed many times in 3,4 and 5 star accommodation around Australia and overseas and without exception have heard sounds from neighbouring rooms. Our building is better built than many, having brick walls with Gyprock on both sides, solid-core and/or double interconnecting doors, many rooms offset from each other, and the new studios built to an even higher standard using "Soundcheck" and sound-reducing insulation. We have endeavored to do everything we can to ensure our guests enjoy a peaceful stay by using the best materials available to us.

We hope that you and your friends will stay again and appreciate your kind recommendations.
Kindest regards to you all, Peter and Suzanne

The Jewell in the Tuarts, I love it! Thank you kindly Leonard W for your generous and detailed review, which I'm sure Tripadvisor readers will find useful and informative. It is so good for us to receive such kind feedback in respect of our greeting and "first class" service. As Suzanne used to own a Gold Plate finalist restaurant in Nedlands previously, its nice to know that she hasn't lost her touch with the breakfast, and you may be interested to hear that she's going to add gourmet pancakes to the breakfast choices. In fact if you add up the cost of the juice $3 - 4, bottomless tea or coffee $4, buffet cereal, fruit and yoghurt $12 - 15, choice of 4 cooked main courses $15 - 20 and toast $2 - 3, were you to have breakfast out in a restaurant, it comes to a staggering $75 - 80 for two, and all that included in a room tariff starting from $129. Exceptional value I'd have thought. Thanks again for your sparkling review, we do hope to see you again, soon.
Cheers,
Pete and Suzanne

We enjoyed 2 nights at this guest lodge having decided to stay a little way out of Busselton. We had the place to ourselves as we'd arrived just after a large contingent had left so we received a free upgrade which was a nice surprise. The lodge is a 5 minute drive from Busselton and is a great base to explore WA's South West including Margaret River. As others have mentioned, Peter and Suzanna are welcoming and helpful and the shared amentities (pool, spa, lounge) are excellent although we were too tired from our daily touring to use them. We can also recommend the cooked breakfasts. Overall, the lodge is a unique and relaxing place to stay for those looking for a change from the usual motel experience.

A gem of a review, many thanks LoreneS306. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, and are particularly pleased that you so appreciated our location just a few minutes from town, but quiet and secluded in the Tuart forest. We're glad that you appreciated the extra value of the amenities and services we provide, but as you say, there is so much to see and do in this region, that staying an extra day or two is a worthwhile suggestion. We can offer our guests up to 6 or 7 days, each quite different, of things to do and see around here, within half to an hours' drive max. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us. All the best, Suzanne and Pete

As others have written Suzanne is very welcoming and professional. The accomodation is of a good standard. Ameneties are excellent eg an indoor pool and a BBQ set up with all the necessaries should guests want to cook their meals. Bathroom large but v. cold in May, oh and it was a bit unsettling to be able to hear the conversation of the guests on the other side of the wall when using the ... facilities.

Breakfast: the veg option is a bit mixed - balsamic toms do not go well with baked beans! It might seem a bit petty but I'd like to suggest a rethink about delivering the toast (on a cold plate) prior to the cooked breakfast!

The Tuart Forest: is very very degraded thus I found the surrounding area very sad and depressing.

Hello AustraliaFox and thank you for your kind review.

We are delighted that you enjoyed our friendly country hospitality and felt welcomed in our home. We pride ourselves on offering lots of facilities like the heated Jacuzzi, sauna, indoor pool and 2 BBQ facilities (inside & outside) for our guests to enjoy.

Thanks for your comment re the oven roasted balsamic tomatoes, most love them (I get asked for the recipe all the time) but perhaps not to your liking and we apologise if your toast wasn’t delivered at the right time for you, we are happy to provide toast at any part of the breakfast service, you only have to ask. We note that you thoroughly enjoyed your generous two course breakfast judging by the wiped clean plates brought back to the kitchen. Love to see that;)

By the way, you are welcome to just turn on the inverter reverse cycle air conditioning in your room if the temperature isn’t right for you. All our rooms have air conditioning - it is there for your comfort.

It is very concerning that you rated us only 3 out of 5 mostly based on your opinion of our location in the forest. As a family business and like all accommodation businesses, we are subject to internet assessments that most believe are the truth, when in fact there are always two sides to every story. We stand on the majority of our guests reviews and know that while we will do our very best for every person we welcome into our home, we cannot please everyone all the time. As you have said yourself, you have been petty in some of the issues you raised. Perhaps it would kinder to remember that we are hardworking and caring people who live and work in an industry where our family livelihood and business can be damaged by petty inaccurate reviews.

About the Forest – we note that you arrived late afternoon, almost dusk and left first thing in the morning so perhaps not enough time to really take in the beauty of this majestic forest. The photos on TA and our website are accurate and show the true story. Yes, there is a small part of the forest further up Tuart Drive that is under rehabilitation after the sand mining but where we are, it is just lovely as agreed by many of our past guests (refer TA reviews). We plant many native trees and bushes on our land every year to do our part in caring for this very special and rare forest. We invite all to take a look at the many websites that show the forest and will give you an informed and knowledgeable opinion on the forest as it really is, not just a fleeting impression.

We also invite all who deeply care about the environment and support the many endeavors to return our native forests to their former glory to take the time to have a look, appreciate and understand what a rare the special place our Tuart Forest is. It is the last on earth.
We are very privileged to be able to live here surrounded by the tall forest and all the wildlife that it supports. (sure beats the traffic and smog!!) We happily welcome to our home our lovely and special guests, many of whom return as friends and share our passion for the environment.

My partner and I stayed at the inn for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. Peter and Suzanne were welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The inn was very well kept up. Our room was neat and clean, and I felt like we got the value of our money. Coming back to the inn in the evenings, I felt at home. The breakfast was well done. Both Peter and Suzanne were knowledgable of the area and gave us some great recommendations. In the dinning hall, there was a plaque that said something along the lines of enter as strangers. Leave as friends.I believe this was the perfect saying as to how I felt about the experiene. I felt very welcomed and that peter and suzanne genuinly cared about our experience. I will be recommending the Inn to friends and plan on returning. Great experience!

What a wonderful review Stef1283, and wonderful it was too, to have your company whilst staying with us for a few days. Its a special privilege to have visitors from the opposite side of the planet, who have obviously travelled widely and enjoy it so much here, and felt like home. You are right, too when you say that you entered as someone we didn't know, but left as a friend. We certainly do hope that you can find the time to return and enjoy this wonderful region some more. We'd love to see you again, real soon!
Kind regards,
