“Need to work on the food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

Awesome customer service and environment- especially for the kids! Coffee was great, food was VERY average- needs attention.

“Coffee Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Stopped for a coffee whilst shopping. Cafe reasonably full. Service and prices have improved since new owners took over and coffee as good as ever. Now happy to recommend to guests and family when looking for a place to eat or have coffee. This cafe is located in the centre of Busselton City and looks inviting. Provides value for money taking into account the location. It does not pretend to be a five star restaurant but rather a smart cafe in a good location.

“Meals take too long.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

We went to Samovar this weekend for dinner on the Saturday night before Mother Days. We had a booking and arrived on time. We were greeted warmly but were pointed to our table and told someone would be with us shortly. Twenty minutes later we were still waiting for a menu. We had to go and ask for a menu and tell them we had been waiting for 20 minutes without being attended to. An apology was given and a free garlic bread was given to us for the inconvenience. Our orders were taken and then we waited and waited. One hour later our meals arrived. I had grilled fish of the day which was cooked well, but the lemon butter sauce was non existent and the feta mash was lacking taste and lacking feta. My husbands battered whiting was really greasy and the fish was tasteless.
We have been to this restaurant each time we have been in Busselton for the past 5 or 6 years and have always had a beautiful meal. This was a very disappointing meal having to wait one and a half hours for our meal then the meal was far from delicious. We were told that they were very busy that night but we have been there before when it was packed and never had to wait that long for our meal. Time to find somewhere else for dinner next time we go to Busselton.

Yes it was inexcusable that you waited such a long time the night before Mothers Day. I am aware of the situation and what remedial action was taken. The kitchen was one short on that Saturday night and we were unable to get another Chef in. FOH staff did advise there would be a longer wait than normal. Our option was to turn people away who had not booked to ensure those who had booked did not wait as long. We will investigate our systems and processes to address this in the future. I apologise for your wait time.

“Our gut instinct did not let us down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

We were looking for a breakfast Sunday after the Busso Half Iron Man and this cafe was one we came across. Tables were available but rather than provide service the staff did anything but.
We eventually got the menus and i went up to order.
The site of the chef handling all the food in the kitchen turned me off ordering. Why do you need to handle poached eggs with your bare hands? Use a spoon or ladle. NEVER handle food in this manner.
We did not order and walked out to another cafe.

I am not sure what time you were in, however yes we were very busy on Ironman day as we did over 200 breakfasts. There is a sign at both doors asking customers to wait for a table so the wait staff are aware of who needs menus, water etc. The site of the chef handling eggs is very strange. Poached eggs are cooked fresh and therefore are very hot from the hot water and if someone used their hands they would break the egg. I will ask all of our Chefs as this is not something I have ever seen them do.

“Good for coffee with kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

The menu doesn't have much options...
Great layout for kids and having coffee.
Food is nothing to rave about but tasty enough.

Thanks for your feedback. We have four menus - breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus our extensive alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks menu. All of our food menus are on our two entrance doors and our website. We do not have all menus available at the table as unfortunately there is not enough room on the tables. We appreciate your comments and will look at standardising one menu for all.
