“Close this place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011 via mobile

Absolute rip off. Overcooked mains. Cheaper substituted ingredients. Entrees horrid. My friend was throwing up all night. I had diorrhea the next day. Staff had no intelligence or knew what customer service is. Not once asked how our meals were. Prices were astronomical.
Avoid at all costs.

“Don't bother!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2011 via mobile

All 8 of the meals (4 entrees and 4 mains) served to our group were overvooked. Substitution of more expensive ingredients with poorer quality ones on an entree wasn't appreciated given that there was no warning that this would occur. Perhaps there was the hope that it would go unnoticed. Entree presentation was sloppy. There were long delays in service of food and drinks. As an example, we had to chase up our order of a simple juice three times. Considering the fact that we were there early in the evening and the restaurant was quiet, I would hate to see it on a busy night! The five year old red wine was loaded with sediment and with no opportunity to decant it the sediment ended up caking our glasses. My husband ended up with food poisoning to top it all off. The decor needs updating and the prices are highway robbery given the quality of the food and experience. I am not someone who usually complains about a dining experience so this review is telling you something. Unusually, the staff did not ask once how our food was - perhaps they realise how bad it is!

Dear Guest, I am disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your dining experience. I will certainly be addressing all the issues you raise, with staff and heads of departments however, I need to assure you we do not ‘substitute ingredients’ as you suggest! Did you report the alleged ‘food poisoning’ to a manager, as I cannot find any reports nor have we been contacted by anyone relating to this? I assume you looked at the prices when perusing the menu and decided to dine with us based on menu selection and prices? We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Abbey Beach Resort in the future. You can stay in touch with us for great deals and specials on our website, via facebook, twitter or Foursquare.
