“Amazing Albany Apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Hanover Bay Studio apartment on the 13th, 14th & 15th October 2012. They are superbly located only a short walk to town, to the museum, farmers and boatshed markets and entertainment centre. it was so nice to be able to walk to a restaurant ( had a great meal at the "Mean Fiddler"). It was an overcast and showery weekend but the apartment was such a pleasure, we didn't mind at all. Just entering the apartment brought a smile to my face every time. We had the one bedroom ground floor apartment which is suitable for handicapped people as well. There are also two two storey, two bedroom apartments. The owners have their house on site and lovingly take care of the native gardens and little attention to details that are so charming.
The apartment is very modern and there were fresh flowers everywhere. Also a starter breakfast of crusty bread, butter, eggs, home made marmalade, plunger coffee, and loose leaf tea. I was so sad to leave.

Room Tip: We had the studio ground floor apartment which is also suitable for disabled people.

Two couples shared an apartment here for 3 nights earlier this month. The layout and consideration that has gone into the apartments is evident and worthwhile. The welcome platter was a treat and the location close to the main street is convenient. Good views of the Brig Amity and the water from Apartment 2. Host Chris is helpful.

Four of us (two couples) shared this accommodation for two nights over a long weekend and it was spectacular! The layout of the apartment, the location, the view, and even the little extras like the welcome food platter and detergent for the washing machine was lovely.
I've been to Albany many times before and from now on I will be making Hanover Bay apartments my first point of call for accommodation.
Its location means you can walk in one direction to the main strip in five minutes (full of restaurants, bars and shops), another direction and the Brig Amity ship is a stones throw away, and in another direction you'll get to the Vancouver St Arts Centre - brilliant!
The apartment itself is great value for money (especially if you have max capacity) with two bedrooms with king-sized beds, two bathrooms (one an ensuite and one a bathroom/laundry), an open-living dining area, kitchen and loungeroom and a nice balcony. I should mention that we stayed in Apartment #1 but from the website, Apartment#2 looks like it has a very similar layout.

Service was great - as an apartment it wasn't serviced everyday and we didn't this anyway. It was so thoughtful to have a platter of coffee, tea, marmalade, eggs, butter, milk and freshly made bread waiting for us when we arrived - what more could you want?!
Value is good. I am not very experienced in how much accommodation in the South West costs but for four people it worked out quite affordable and would be great for a family.
Sleep quality was fine - There is a train track nearby and I slept through the noise but if you are a light sleeper than you may hear it.
Cleanliness was great - even little details like having all the cleaning equip you could possibly need under the kitchen sink - no searching high and low to find a sponge or plug.
Location = brilliant!
Rooms were all great but if you're sharing, get in quick to get the master bedroom! While the second bedroom is very nice, the ensuite in the master is amazing!

All in all, this place is a gem and I can't stop raving about it enough.
Thank you Chris for helping us have a wonderful weekend away.

Room Tip: Apartment #2 has the view of the Brig Amity but Apartment #1 has an equally spectacular view of the...

Our entourage of 3 adults and 2 young children stayed for 2 nights in one of the Hanover Bay apartments. We really didn't want to leave!

These apartments are very new and modern. In our apartment, we had the 2 bedrooms (master bedroom has an attached bathroom) and the common bathroom on the ground floor. The washer and dryer were in the common bathroom. On the second floor were the dining area, living area and kitchen. There was also a small outdoor deck with a BBQ.

Now, on the website, Hanover Bay Apartments are advertised as "…featuring luxurious furnishings and all extensively equipped" and "experience quality, attention to detail and the little touches that make a difference". Well, whoever wrote that certainly wasn't joking. Our apartment was equipped and furnished with quality stuff. Leather sofa, solid table and chairs, even the toilet paper and kitchen paper hand towels were of good quality! We were very impressed! Not only was quality furnishings used, but whoever furnished it was very thoughtful as well. For instance, a step stool was placed in the common bathroom and it was so easy for my daughter to reach the sink by herself. Throughout our stay in the apartment, we didn't have to carry her up to reach the sink whenever she wanted to wash her hands or brush her teeth. There was also a small laundry pail with handles that we could put our clothing in after taking them out of the dryer.

In designing the apartment, someone definitely paid a huge amount of attention to details, which would enable the occupants to have a comfortable stay there. For example, there were double sinks and double shower heads in the master bedroom bathroom. We really loved using them! I could shower both my kids at the same time. There was also enough bench space in the bathroom to place our toiletries, clothes, etc. The heater in the bathroom kept the big bathroom nice and warm, especially for the kids, and the heated towel rack was a bonus!

The apartment was really extensively furnished and everything you would need in an apartment and more, could be found there. I was even joking to Trish, the temporary site manager (Chris, the owner was away) that the only thing missing was laundry detergent. Oh, and there wasn't any shampoo too. But we were perfectly fine with these 2 items not being provided for as we didn't expect them to be. A big bar of soap was generously provided in each bathroom, unlike the tiny bars which are usually provided at other places.

Speaking of Trish, the temporary site manager, she was wonderful! I had to call her a total of 3 times when I was there and she always answered the phone promptly and was very helpful every time. The first time I called was when we checked in. We had arrived later than expected. The second time was after 8pm that same night because we needed laundry detergent and Trish suggested some places where we could buy it. The third time was upon checking out.

Ok, I could go on and on about how wonderful the apartment is, but let me go on to the location. It's just a 10 min walk to the main street of Albany. Fantastic! We ended up driving every time we went out though, because it was raining the whole time we were there.

In summary, we will not hesitate to stay at Hanover Bay Apartments again. In fact, I am tempted to plan a trip to Western Australia again just so that I can stay for a longer time at this lovely apartment! This is probably the best apartment we have stayed in, and we are frequent travelers who are very fussy about our holiday accommodation. I think this says a lot about how good our Hanover Bay Apartment was!

We stayed at Hanover Bay Apartments for three nights this month.
Nothing beats the moment of arrival at a destination and finding that your accommodation meets or exceeds your expectations?
The apartments I would think are only about four years old or maybe less. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The unit was beautifully presented with some nice little touches which show the owners care. The placement of a lovely red flower with the towels. A fresh loaf of bread and four eggs for our breakfast on our first day. Clean and modern fittings. A lovely bed and bedroom. A spacious and funky bathroom. All in all fantastic accommodation.
Outside is a small paved area where I was able to sit, do some work ( unfortunately ) and observe the bird life flitting through the vegetation. And as for the train which some reviewers have mentioned I happen to love the sound of a train. And you will have a good sleep .
Lastly Chris your host is very helpful and a great host.

only 500m from the main street in Albany are these fabulous 2 storey apartments. Views over the bay or over town depending on the unit. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms one includes a washer and dryer and all the living is upstairs.
Good size living room with large dining area and galley kitchen. everything you need is supplied even down to the coffee, bread, eggs for your first brekkie.
Chris the owner was super helpful and was very obliging in letting us store our 3 bicycles in his garage when we were not riding them.
Excellent value for money, very clean, fresh from a commercial laundry linen and towels, good quality pillows and doonas.
The ensuite shower is a double walk in behind a wall excellent if you want to wash a little one whilst you have a shower as well.
kitchen is well provide with all the essentials and there is a new Webber Q gas bbq on the outdoor patio as well.
Lots of good window ventilation as well as air conditioning, the only minor downside is proximity to the train track but three times a day is fine, last one at 10.30pm.
Located behind the Brig Amity overlooking the bay and Mount Clarence, easy walking distance to a dozen restaurants, pubs etc and some excellent shopping.
Thanks Chris, we will be back again for sure.
