The former proprietors of sourcedining and the Kitchen at the Courthouse Hotel have opened their new restaurant in the old Wodonga railway station. The venue is excellent. The four of us had no trouble conversing in the spacious surrounds. The central kitchen is an excellent idea and provides a stimulating culinary atmosphere. The decor is suitable.
The service, led by Steve, was superb. We were extremely well looked after all evening, but we were there for the food and it was outstanding.
We started with freshly shucked oysters and the kitchen selection of charcuterie accompanied by a local prosecco. All excellent. For entrees we enjoyed salt and pepper school prawns, the citrus cured kingfish, crumbed lambs brains and home made terrine accompanied by a local riesling. While all entrees were of an adequate size, we were looking forward to the main dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the pork choucroute with 6 garnie, the braised beef brisket and the boned and roasted quail. The quail in particular was magnificent, but all dishes were declared excellent.
The wine list was full of local and nearby wines and provides an appropriate variety to accompany any dish.
