“An Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

From the moment we entered the restaurant we were treated with respect. This courtesy, the food, the dining experience were all of the highest calibre. There were no disappointments in the 8 course degustation menu and we loved the break in the meal where we were invited to leave the table to step out on the balcony to select our own sorbets as a palate cleanser, served directly by the passionate chef from an old style 'Ice Cream Trolley'.

We have been to this restaurant under the previous ownership/chef and feel that Woodland House is better. It retains the same level of professionalism and quality that it's had for years but has a slightly more modern feel.

Very worthy of a special night/celebration dinner. Definitely one of the best formal dining experiences we have had anywhere......

“Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

My wife and I visited this restaurant on a dreary Thursday evening. The minute we stepped into Woodland House we were treated with the greatest courtesy. We treated ourselves to the 8 course tasting menu and we're not disappointed. Every course was individually a highlight although the Wagyu stood above the other courses as the dish of the evening. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful evening. We will be back.

“Just as good as Jacqued Reymond”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

Wonderful to see that the sublime dining experience that reigned under Reymond remains. Imaginative cuisine, excellent service and that lovely old world feel. Keep it up team!

“Five stars are not enough for this restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Okay, so this is not the restaurant to go to if you want a cheap night out. You will realize that when you visit the Woodland House website. Having said that, this is most definitely the restaurant if you want to experience the elegance, sophistication, and brilliance for service, food and ambiance. Woodland House is the metamorphoses of the retired Jacques Reymond and the renewed start for two of Jacques chefs – Thomas Woods and Hayden McFarland.

We dined at Woodland House with another couple for a celebration on a Saturday night. We all agreed to partake of the 8 course degustation tasting menu with matching wines from around the world and the optional cheese supplement. The service was attentive without being intrusive, the courses came out in a timely manner making you feel neither rushed nor looking around for something to eat. We were constantly offered bread during the course of our meal and the table water was always replenished in a timely manner. The sommelier always showed us the bottle and explained to us the variety of wine, information regarding the area and the winery itself. Without going into detail for every course the standout for me was the charred eel closely followed by the duck but surpassing both of those was the Robbins Island beef with taro sticks and mustard pearls. Simply sensational.

For anyone who has dined at Jacques Reymond will attest the ambience of the house and gardens is beautiful and serene. As part of our experience we were invited to stretch our legs and were led to the front courtyard garden where we could choose from a variety of restaurant ice creams (being served from a small ice cream vendor’s cart). It was a pleasant night to savor the cold delights on a warm and balmy Melbourne night behind the very impressive and sound proofing wall between the garden and Williams Road. The tasting menu was absolutely brilliant. It showcased a wide variety of the highest quality food and wine matched superbly with elegant surroundings and unobtrusive wait staff. Five stars are not enough for this restaurant.

“Fabulous Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

My husband and I along with another couple had a fantastic lunch at Woodland House on Sunday, March 2, 2014. We had the four course fixed price meal and very much enjoyed it. A delicious vegetarian meal was arranged for one of us. I enjoyed the wallaby as one of the courses and even though wallaby is a low fat meat it was expertly prepared to medium rare and juicy. The mocha moose for dessert was a great way to cap off the experience.
