“Very enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

We stayed in an executive king room which was spacious and comfortable. We didn't expect a spa bath with a shower over it and would have preferred just a shower. It was difficult to get into easily and would advise that you need to hold onto rail on wall. The shower wasn't the best, nozzle too small and squirty. Otherwise it was a lovely bathroom with plenty of towels and toiletries. We found it a very quiet motel with lovely rose gardens. Sometimes you do have to park outside the motel but it is very wide and is not a problem unless under the norfolk pine tree, yuk, messy car in the morning. A continental breakfast is provided in the restaurant as part of your accommodation which is quite nice. They will cook a breakfast for a fee. Reception person friendly but not too helpful, didn't seem too sure about things. I think he may have been one of the managers. Port Fairy is a beautiful town. A must visit if doing Great Ocean Road tour. Fish and Chip kiosk on wharf not good unless you like lots of batter and bad service. They don't take credit card either.

We stayed there as a couple for 1 night while visiting Great Ocean Road in January 2012. Not knowing all the details about this property, and with confidence knowing Comfort Inn chain standards, we booked a prepaid guest house room. It prooved to be nowhere near what we know Comfort Inn stands for. The room was tiny on the second floor with no elevator and a narrow winding staircase. There was absolutely no space for luggage and barely enough for 2 people standing. The bed was pushed against the wall and luggage had to be lifted over the bed to get it into the room. No TV, no radio, no A/C. One tiny window, door resembling a barn door did not close properly with the corridor light shining through a crack and an old fashioned key hole. The common room was well equipped with coffee, tea ,TV but too small for the number of guests wanting to use it - obviously unable to stay in their tiny rooms. The parking lot was full and we had to park on the street. Seems that all the good reviews written here are from people who stayed in the new Motel section with proper facilities. The Guest House section should not be a part of this hotel and not diguise itself as Comfort Inn. The town was quite deserted on Saturday evening with very few places available for dinner.
Overall, could not wait to get out of there to go back on road again.

Room Tip: Avoid Guest House section.

Basic small town hotel. Man on reception had been drinking and was unhelpful. Noisy fridge compressor kept us awake all night.Only go there if you must.

We booked a superior two bedded room paid for in advance. On arrival the room had been reallocated, and the hotel had only a tired standard double with a camp bed available. We were offered a complimentary cooked breakfast the following morning, which the staff on duty said they were too busy to cook!
Although the receptionist had said the onsite but independent restaurant was fully booked that evening in fact they were happy to find us a table and we had an excellent meal.

This was a lovely start to our "babymoon". Plus's are great location-everything within easy walking distance, nice modern clean rooms, friendly manager, good continental breakfast. If I had to be picky the only things I could think of was parking is a little limited but if you get a park inside just keep it and walk everywhere, bathrooms are very bright and well lit(which can be a good thing during the day) so if you need to visit during the night just bring a small torch so you don't completely startle yourself :D and we were in a lower floor room and the people above us were a bit noisy with their tv and banging about etc but it's hard to get away from that sort of thing. Overall I would definately stay here again and recommend!

Despite the staff being very nice, the accomodation left a lot to be desired. We couldnt get a room in the Motel so we opted to take a room in the Guest House. It was very tiny and had no ventilation unless you left the very small window open. There were no screens on the window so insects were abundant. The room held two single beds and a small cupboard. There was nowhere to put your bags as there was no floor space. We had workmen staying in the rooms opposite and down the hall. They all got up at 4-30am and woke everyone. They were very noisy. We had to share fac8ilities which became congested in the morning when everyone wanted to use the bathroom. The breakfast was included and was very nice. Would not recommend the Guest House for families.

Room Tip: Opt for Motel rooms

We stayed in one of the cottages with my mother in what was billed as a 2 bedroomed cottage. It was a little unclear what the room arrangement was from the website. In the event, it turned out to be a large L-shaped room consisting of a small kitchenette, a lounge and in the recess of the L, (so it was quite private) a very large bed. The bathroom and 2nd bedroom were off that room. The way it was decorated, meant it was very dark, but that didn't really matter as we weren't spending any day time there anyway.

We were very happy with the room and found it very spacious and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the hotel cat who appreciated an invite inside - he was a lovely chocolate Burmese. There was also an open fire there, and as it was chilly, we used it and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience it gave to the room.

We ate at the hotel restaurant as nothing nearby sparked any enthusiasm. The food was excellent and my mother voted it the best meal she'd had in her 4 weeks in Australia, and I wouldn't disagree with her.

Room Tip: The cottage are very nice and roomy.
