Well what a find! The welcome cup of chai for me and expresso for Caroline set us up well for a long walk to the pier and dinner at the recommended Ba Ba Lu. We would never have found Ba Ba Lu as it's under the backpackers and I wouldn't think to go there but a little bit of magic at what they describe as the Paris end of Lorne. Excellant cuisine and broad selection at the bar. We stayed in the little cottage (suite 4) with romantic double tub. Don't miss this gorgeous stopover. We decided to extend for an extra night as we've never had such an indulgent breakfast in a B&B. The seachange suits Laurel well (hope she fits in some golf soon) All in all a great spot. Thanks and good luck with La Perouse.

We unfortunately had to cut short short our stay due to an accident which necessitated our ealy return to New Zealand- while the room was adequate we found the lack of our own fridge and inadequate reading lights quite surprising when one considers the tariff and how the exchange rate is definitely against New Zealanders- certainly not value for money when comparing what is available in N Z. and also Australia.

I read and wonder about the reviews of the so called French Breakfast. Our breakfast consisted of a glass of juice, museli from a packet, a meagre plate of fruit and a frozen packet croissant. The coffee was fine. The chocolate croisants on display were, we guess, just that, display only.
The single newspaper on offer was hard to come by and Laurel seemed to prefer that the paper be left on the sideboard in the breakfast room locked up for the day.
The lack of a fridge in our room or access to a fridge was disappointing. Our request to keep drinks cool in the fridge was met with a talk on th licensing laws.
Overall we seemed to invoke attitude from Laurel and Sue that we still can not explain and this culminated in a very sad incident at the end of our stay. We had a medical emergency and one of our friends was taken to hospital in Melbourne. While the room was re rented the charges these ladies invoked for the cancelled room were absolutely mean spirited, especially from people in the hospitality business. We will certainly not return or reccomend La Perouse to any of our friends.

Our intimate B&B caters for a maximum of eight guests. Our check-in is 3pm and our check-out is 11am. As we have a large number of international guests we provide many extra services such as beach towel hire. Our kitchen & café are designated private areas in the B&B. We are bound by restrictions legislated under the Food Act regarding storage of food (B&B breakfast provisions only) and no alcohol (we don’t have a liquor licence). As an alternative we are able to provide ice and an ice-bucket to keep their drinks cool in their Suite 1, 2 & 3 (4 has a fridge). We take great pride in our breakfast service. All our produce is either organic and in season or locally sourced apart from the muesli and our imported French jam. We provide gluten free options which is why we have selected this particular muesli and it is also available in larger packets locally in Lorne for those that would like to take it home. The croissants & chocolate croissants are baked & bought fresh daily from the local bakery. We provide The Age, Herald Sun, Financial Review and the Geelong Advertiser daily for all our guests to enjoy at breakfast. For those that request an early morning paper to be delivered to their room we also provide this as an extra service. Although we don’t usually provide a refund for a cancellation that occurs so late or on a weekend, public holiday or school holidays in this case we did, less our cancellation fee, late checkout and the beach towel hire. I remain perplexed to read the review as I am not sure what else I could have done to make his stay more comfortable.

Overall a really nice experience that left us with a smile. Owners are super-friendly and helpful, rooms are cute and clean. 10 minute walk to the main shopping strip, only problem is the road is very steep so you may prefer to drive. Most exciting part of this place was the free L'Occitane products! I must admit I grabbed a stash to take home ;) There was no iron in our room but the owner happily loaned us one. Breakfast is great and bit creative (not your standard eggs and bacon). You will not be diappointed if you stay here.

Such a delight. Laurel and Sue have made this B&B very special. From their fantastic welcoming spirit and French/New England styling and lovely continental breakfast, all is perfect .We stayed 3 nights in " the cottage" room which has its own entrance via a path through the Agapanthas. It's a very cosy room with flatscreen tv, sunken 2 person tub, tea and coffee making facilities, fluffy towels and L'Ocitane products. This is rustic chic done very nicely and owned by the nicest of people. Laurel had great advise on where to eat and what to do. Lorne isnt a cheap town to stay but it is very nice and great half way location for discovering the GOR.

  • Liked — Great service, lovely room and location
  • Disliked — steep uphill climb from town to guesthouse

My mum and I stayed at the La Perouse B&B for one night just before christmas and had a lovely stay. I have to say that this is one of the nicest B&B's I have ever stayed at. The location is perfect just minutes away from the main street of Lorne and very peaceful. The decor in the rooms is beautiful and the breakfast delicious. There is nothing negative to say about La Perouse at all and I will definitely be staying again when I next go back to Lorne.
