“Location,location,location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

We lived in Melbourne for a long time but never got around to visiting Studley Park Boathouse, what a mistake. It is in the most beautiful, peaceful location, right on the Yarra River, not far from the city. There is no traffic noise and easy to access. You can walk or ride along the river for a long way. The cafe is ideal for coffee and breakfast/light lunch but the restaurant is perfect for a family get together for lunch. We had a set price menu for Sunday lunch and whilst we weren't that rapt in our main courses the trio of appetisers for entree and the dessert platter more than made up for it. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful. If you can get a table on the balcony you have a beautiful view. We used 2 entertainment book cards and got $80 off our bill, how good is that!

“Pricey. Slow. But good coffee.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Popped in for a coffee and a snack today. Great location and friendly, well drilled staff. Ordered a cappuccino, iced chocolate and a pizza.

The coffee was excellent, iced choc, Ok. The pizza was more like a flat bread roll with a basil leaf on it. $14.50 forget it. Drinks and food were too slow for a very basic item.

Nice spot, not great food.

“Have a bite, hike, read a book, go boating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

This review should be more about the boathouse/café rather than the Yarra Bend Park which is under another heading but no worries, just do a '2 in 1'

You can eat, spend a lazy day reading (byo blankie), chatting under the shady trees, go boating ($45 per hr hire is not cheap !) or byo canoe (if you got one ) or feed the wildlife (ducks/waterfowls). The boat ride will entertain your kids and romantics, do bring a hat if you are out here on a hot summer day.

The flying foxes colony is to be found further upstream 3 kms away either via the main road or river bank trial (see review under Yarra Bend Nat Park). Kane Bridge is just near where you park your car.

As for takeaway downstairs, the latte I bought was a disappointment - more milk than coffee. You can have takeaway pies ($5.60), rolls($11.50) , sandwiches ($11+) . The pictures I posted here will give you an idea of cost of take aways here. The sit down café is upstairs and you will to read other reviews for the quality and value of the

Lucky Melbournians to have a national park just 20 mins from CBD. No public transport to get here so you have to drive, rent a bike or bike yourself here (need to be energetic as it s up and down some hills before you arrive).

Have a fun day !!

“Lovely Ambience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

We wanted a special place for a long, languid, lunch of long rambling conversation and laughter on a Sunday afternoon. We had an important family member from the UK and the setting had to be right.

Studley Park Boathouse Cafe did us proud!

The cafe offers location, location, location! The views over the Yarra with people in rowing boats and others strolling along the towpath gave a lovely ambience.

The menu was fairly standard for a cafe but gave us all good choices. The quality of food was appropriate: this was not fine dining but we were all very pleased with our meals. The staff were attentive, helpful and accommodating and made us feel welcome.

Would we go back? We can't wait!!

“A Unique Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

This is a hidden gem, tucked away in bushland on the Yarra its a
lovely spot for a snack or lunch on the deck.
Only 15 or so minutes from the CBD you would think you were miles away.
On a warm summers day l cant think of a nicer place to get away from the
hustle of the city. No parking problems either !
