“Pretty happy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

My family and I just spent christmas here and had a great time. We booked a 3 bedroom cabin and it was just what we were after. All the cabins were clean, quiet and were spaced a good distance away from each other. There was some nice walking tracks and the restaurants had pretty nice food. The BBQ facilities were very clean and were in good locations near the parks for the children to play in. This is also a great location to everything you would want to do in Philip Island. It was a really really nice trip and I'd like to think id book again.

I only had one negative. I'm not sure the pool, spa or sauna had been serviced in a while. The outdoor spa was a dirty green colour and its really didn't look clean. I acually used it but I was in holiday mode and i'm really regretting getting into it! The indoor pool wasn't really heated and the sauna also that a part of the roof removed which made a lot of the heat escape. I'm putting this down to being around christmas and maybe not having staff around. No excuse but thats what i'm going with. Don't let that negative change your mind in staying here tho. The positives outweighed the negative in a big way and ill be staying here again!

Dear Diamo_Advisor
Melbourne

Thank you for taking the time to lodge your review and your comments appreciated. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your patronage. Please be advised that your comments in relation to the pool were founded and this issue has been addressed and quality restored. There was an unexpected issue with the pool equipment during the time of your stay, now with recent purchase and installation of new pumps this issue has been resolved. Many thanks.

So disappointment with our choice of accommodation. We booked a year beforehand for our Christmas holiday with friends. We asked to be next to or opposite our friends due to young children, an email was written and we phoned in advance to request this. This wasnt accommodated and we were placed in totally different areas. We were also astonished to find out we were charged $100 a night more than our friends, we both booked the same accommodation villa. After contacting the resort ( which is definitely not resort accommodation), our nighty rate was reduced from $269 to $230, still $70 a night more expensive than our friends. On arrival, we were originally placed in a villa without air conditioning, despite having air conditioning listed on our paperwork. Finally after many conversations with reception, we were moved into a bigger villa, closer to our friends with a bath. I can't believe the first villa we were placed in for 8 nights at $230 per night didn't have a bath, air conditioning or room to place your toilet bags in the bathroom! The villa we stayed in was extremely dirty especially the floors. Not suitable to have a baby crawling on the floor for 8 days! This certainly isn't resort accommodation, they are basic cabins. We travel frequently and are more than happy to pay top dollar if what you get reflects that! Unfortantely this "resort" didn't.

Dear Kate
Melbourne

Thank you for your review, albeit not an extremely positive one! Unfortunately I will possibly simply be reiterating what both reservation and reception staff had previously advised you in relation to guest requests for specific villa location, air conditioning etc’ whilst staying in the property. Regrettably due physically to the size of the property and the location of the specific accommodation categories requested or booked by guest this is not possible. Therefore we advise all guests that any such requests are simply that; both accepted and noted but unfortunately we are not able to guarantee these requests. We do however do the very best that we can to locate guests travelling as a group as near it each other as physically possible. Regrettably we were not able to meet your request at the time of your stay. But it has been noted that the staff were able to relocate you to a more suitable villa during your stay, plus also meet your request for financial compensation. Which you accepted. Please also be advised that your comments in relation to quality of the floor surface have been duly noted an this issue is currently being addressed by the company and the individual owners of the villas. Thank you again for your positing.

We stayed at the Ramada Resort Phillip Island for 4 nights in Dec. It's at a good location... only 3 mins drive to Cowes shops where there are restaurants and supermarkets. It's also relatively close to all the sightseeing spots including penguin parade, chocolate factory, Amaze N things, trout farm etc.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Note most apartments do not come with air conditioning and I requested one with air con and they said they cannot guaranteed but I did end up getting one with AC so was happy. Facilities were great including toddler pool, swimming pool, spa and sauna. They also have bbq facilities and a game room for the kids. We borrowed dvd from the reception and it's only $3 a night which is reasonable. Apartment also come with washing machine and dryer which is very handy.

The only down side is I think the resort can do with some small refurbishment. The dining chairs have lots of stains on them and the living room sofa is quite dirty too. They do not have digital TV so the reception is not the best ( in fact we cannot see channel 9 at all) and they don't have all the extra channels from digital TV.

Overall we had a pleasant stay

Dear Pasta0
Sydney

Delighted to read that you had a ‘Pleasant stay’ with us here at the Ramada Resort – Phillip Island. It was indeed our pleasure to be your hosts and to be of service to you during your stay. Thank you also for not only your review but also the comments made in relation to our resort facilities which you obviously enjoyed. Plus your comments have also been noted in relation to the television service here at the resort. Please be advised that this service is currently under review and we are working with our service provider to ensure that this is improved in 2013. As mentioned we currently only offer the standard ‘free to Air’ TV network coverage in addition to 6 complimentary Fox/Austar channels. This programming is also under review for the enjoyment of our guests. Minor improvements in services and product for a property of this size are always ‘on-going’, particularly when you are presenting over 200 Villas for guest accommodation across 65 acres of natural bushland setting. Thank you again for both your review, patronage and choosing to stay with Ramada Resort – Phillip Island.

sorry for late post. We had a small 1 bedroom apartment that was clean and very eco freindly. They have a cafe and pizza's. On the outskirts of Cows and sometimes a long drive in on busy weekends. The bed was comfy but the blinds where not thick enough and sun got through them in the morning so no sleep in :S. Overall nice, quite and peacfull.

Now part of the Wyndham group this weekend stay was perfectly relaxed, friendly staff ensured a great stay, two bedroom cabin very nice and clean, floorboards a bit grubby but otherwise spotless, even the dishes. Air conditioning good, bed fantastic, large queen in one room, two small singles in other. Toilet separate from bathroom, tank water to toilet filthy from rainwater tank, but not used to grey water, did not smell so I guess it was all fine. Big wedding on but they were bussed out of the resort and I did not hear a thing from them. Seafood woodfired pizza was devine, breakfast was basic, go early as wedding guests came around 9.30am and it got very busy, especially around the only toaster, could do better here guys on a busy morning. Big, busy resort was crowded but I did not hear anything, very quiet, pool was nice, grassed area, spa which was big and lovely, also sauna very good. All round a very good stay, too far to walk into Cowes, bike ride would be okay as has a bike path into town.

Dear Jackson
Melbourne

Thank you for taking the time to write your review, and for choosing to stay with us here at Ramada Resort – Phillip Island. Yes you did happen to be staying during a very busy period for the resort, but delighted to hear that this did not create any disruption to you personally or your stay. Definitely a compliment to our team managing the activities during this time. Plus the wedding went off without a ‘Hitch’ so everyone was thrilled. Thank you again for your posting, very much appreciated.

We stayed as two couples with two babies. The 3 bed unit was large and spacious with everything we'd need particularly a great kitchen.

The apartment was clean and tidy and as expected for the star rating of the ramada. As other reviewers have said you do need to empty your own bins and load the dishwasher before leaving. The room isn't serviced each day either but this is fairly standard for this kind of holiday apartment.

The facilities on site were good and takeaway is available from both restaurants which was handy with babies rather than eating out.

The wifi didn't work unfortunately and the provider couldn't fix it and the resort had no idea what the issue was.

Overall good, reasonably priced and a great central location
