Just missing the cast! In saying that I found the staff especially Stevie, were as helpful as possible. On arrival we had no hot water. We were told to run the taps for 15 minutes. Still none. Some other guests said we could shower in thier room but they then found they had no hot water either. The boss later appeared from somewhere, some time later and all was finally rectified. The air con had a bit of a struggle but did the job in the end. In spite of this I a had a lovely hot spa bath. The breakfast was satisfying and included.Looking at this way, if the hotel was in top notch order, I guess we would be paying a lot more admittedly we had a reduced rate and hey the view and position was enviable. It must have been a nice place in its day.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the bar.

This property is rated 3 star, it doesnt even come close. Front door has chunk missing from being broken into and inside security chain was not there, not a great look to make you feel secure. The door handle / lock was flimsy so I didnt feel safe sleeping or to go out and leave my valuables in the room. Paint peeling on walls, skirtings, chips in walls & doors, thick dust & cobwebs on visible pipes under vanity. Tiles in bathroom are old and mouldy in the grout, with many cracked tiles. Passage ways & balconies are absolutely filthy with the stink of stale cigarette and paint has peeled off walls and rails and is covered in dark dirt. At least the bed was clean and the carpets didnt stink. I checked in late and despite paying online my credit card details were taken on a scrap of paper and left on the counter in the bar. Next morning left key at checkout to a bandana clad dude who couldnt even muster up a good morning. THe views are nice, but you have to look past all of the above. THe place hasnt been maintained or seen a paint brush in many years. This is a 1 star property people, for an extra $25 you can stay at the Ramada which is what I did the next night, and it was a much better experience.

The staff are great. The accommodation is clean but so tired looking and in need of a serious make over. Located neat the Cowes jetty, the views over the water is very good. And very close to the local shops. If you are looking for an inexpensive stay with a continental breakfast included its ok.

Service -horrendous
Pre booked over the phone at 150 a night and asked was offered a 10 % discount for consecutive night stay . 2 nights for 275 .
Travelled all the way from Melbourne to the hotel were the receptionist who I spoke to tried to charge me 288 for the 2 nights . The worst part about it was after confronting the manager he blatantly lied to my face and the managers face about the conversation and the fee which he originally charged me .
After attempting to sort out the mix up was not offered at all my rate which I was originally quoted and was asked to leave because I had advised them that I would be writing a bad review .
They would rather loose a customer than loose 18 dollars . What a joke
You would think that they would rather 275 dollars instead of nothing .
PEOPLE STAY AWAY .
You will not be treated with respect .
They staff do not even look like they want to be there
No wonder this company is in administration .
The bank should hurry up and take it -bulldose it and build something worth staying at .

This was our third stay at The Continental Hotel. Its always been our favourite place to stay on the island. I cannot fault the wonderful views from the 3rd floor rooms and the location as you can walk to all the restaurants, beach, shops, its wonderful. We also enjoyed the breakfast. This time I think the breakfast was even better as there was raisin toast available. The staff are helpful and friendly. My only negative this time was the room we had booked which was $160 a night was not to our liking for that price. The bathroom was so tiny and in need of an update. I spoke to the young lady at the front desk about it and she kindly moved us to another room, she upgraded us to a spa suite on the 3rd floor. Much better, in fact we had stayed in this room on a previous visit. We loved the view and spaciousness of this room but we did notice many things that needed fixing. The side table lamp was broken, the curtains were coming off their rings and broken, the door into the bathroom dragged across the floor and we had a wine glass in our fridge that wasnt washed. Its still a gorgeous hotel in the best location in Cowes, just needs updating and things fixed. Cant fault the staff especially the receptionist who was so accommodating and lovely.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view from the 3rd floor, although realise you have to climb stairs. Also a spa...

Great location, terrible accommodation. Every hotel room my wedding guests stayed in had faulty electricals and the majority of my bridal suite was out of order!!! Out of date less than average. Not too bad if your just wanting a bed for a night but certainly not suitable for weddings or functions. Not children friendly nor access for wheel chairs or anyone unable to get up stairs. Very disappointing

Room Tip: It doesn't matter how much you pay quality is still average to poor. tip is to pick somewhere el...

The second time we have stayed here and nothing has changed in the 18mths since our last stay. The rooms are very average and could do with a good refurb. Ok if you are just wanting a bed for the night.

Room Tip: Choose a ocean view room type.
