“Just Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

The food was good with the exception of the sea food melody which had very tough squid. If you sit outside you have to pay for your meal first. No bottled water supplied, you have to go in and get it yourself. The service was average. Probably wouldnt go there ever again.

“Slow”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

I was told to help myself to water at the bar, but there was no water there and I had to wait. We had to wait 35 minutes for our food - a chicken parma (+$1 for ham) and oriental chicken salad. The chicken salad was a basic here's chicken salad. What made it oriental was the bottle of sweet chilli sauce used for dressing

“A surprise find.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Our group of eight stumbled into The Fat Seagull when we couldn't secure a table at the Thai restaurant around the corner. To be honest I didn't expect too much (seemed to be one of those places aiming to please everyone by serving every style of cuisine known to man) but we were all pleasantly surprised. The service, although at times patchy was generally friendly and attentive. The food was very good. For entrees a shared platter of crispy, battered fresh seafood was delicious as were the Chinese dumplings and the pesto pizza. The deep fried whole flounder was scrumptious and the trio of curries authentically good. The wine list offered a good selection and we really enjoyed a couple of West Australian vinos. A couple of our group returned the following evening and reported the same standard.

“Forgotten”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

After being put upstairs in the function room we were quiet impressed with the chilled and relaxed vibe. How ever we started reading other review while waiting for a meal, one review stood out when it referred to the function room as the forgotten room. Meal was delicious however after waiting for the length of time we waited anything would have tasted good.

“The Fat seagull left us hungry and not at all fat!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We attended at his restaurant at 7 pm on a friday evening , we had booked earlier in the day. We sat upstairs in the function room (also known as the forgotten room) The waitressing staff appeared to be without any skill or personality at all. We waited for 20 minutes and eventually had to ask for menus and also water. We ordered our meals and had to wait for over 1 hour for them to be delivered. Once they arrived we ate quickly as we were starving. I had the calamari which was nice and fresh and not tough as some calamari can be. others in our party had chicken parmas which were adequate in size and OK but not fabulous... especially after waiting for so long to eat...our drinks order was mucked up....we were delivered 2 Shandy's instead of 2 chardonnays... and when we questioned the waitress she tried to tell us that the they WERE chardonnays....
Don't bother with this place.... you'll leave hungry and frustrated....
